Jan Wenner & Rolling Stone vs Prog

Seen some threads regarding the disregard of prog in the R&R Hall of Fame. Seems some people think that Ahmet at Atlantic may have some repsonsibility. I got news for you all. It's Wenner at RS! I'll explain.

Back in '99 when I moved here to Cleveland, I went to the HOF. I then later contacted the curator (I forget his name) and offered some artifacts of my own for display. Mostly sheet music of Bill Haley, Elvis and Beatles. So, I loaned them to the HOF for a while and after a few other contacts I was able to submit some essays and reviews (mostly on non-prog music) to them. Some of them got published in their newsletter Liner Notes.

Then I wrote an article about prog music and mentioned that groups like KC, Genesis, Yes and ELP are being neglected by the HOF and probably 'cause Jan Wenner and RS has always looked at prog in a negative light and that RS has too much power in the induction process which I found out was true earlier from another writer. Next thing I know I'm blacklisted and that was the end of my rock journalist career. Not that there was much of one in the 1st place. Liner Notes is just a rag anyway. I was only paid $50 a shot! OH WELL! Your inputs please.

That's certainly another way of putting it. And yes, I agree. RS used to be a good groundbreaking rag. 'Til they got all narrowminded and 1 dimensional later in the 70s.

I'm sorry to hear that. The Rolling Stone Magazine is a bunch of crap. 

They just don't like hearing the truth...

I've pretty much given up on anything prog getting into the R&RHOF.
