Next years dates have been announced for May 4th, 5th and 6th 2018. This will be our 15th Anniversary and we plan to make it a very special event starting off with Barock Project from Italy playing the third slot on Saturday night, May 5th. Take a listen here: https://barockproject.bandcamp.com/album/detachment

Platinum seat tickets will go on sale November 4th followed by Gold seat tickets going on sale November 11th 2017. The sale of these advance tickets ensures the commitment of booking great bands at RoSfest. We have a wish list that we would like to get at RoSfest 2018 and if any of you have any additional suggestions, please let us know. It’s always good to be connected to the pulse of RoSFest.

Please note: Do not make any plans at the current host hotels “The Aspire” or the “Eisenhower” as hotel location is currently on hold. More information to follow.

Find out more via the festival’s official website.

Suggestions for future RosFests:

Ozric Tentacles
Magenta
Big Big Train
IQ
District 97
The Tangent
Riverside
Adrian Belew Power Trio
Stick Men
Dweezil Zappa (Zappa Plays Zappa or whatever he has to call it now)
Brother Ape
Frost*
Anathema
The Flower Kings
Lee Abraham
RPWL
Pendragon

Since Friday is a separate cost ticket and offered to 2-day Plat/Gold ticket purchasers first, would a bigger  name (costlier) headliner/single band for Friday sell more Plat/Gold tix?

Many of those bands have already played at Rosfest though. I agree with BBT. They would make a great headliner.

I don't know if George looks at this thread, but if you want to make sure he sees any suggestions, join the ROSfest Facebook group.

Not a line-up for me this year so I'm skipping it, I'd like to see PFM but that's it really.

Well, unless they get Big Big Train or Eloy next year this will probably be my last Rosfest. I'm just getting burned out on it.

Had to bow out this year. Mainly family reasons, a family event got in the way. The bill for fixing the drain pipes in our house also a part of the reason.

^^ Agreed. Bring back Eric Norlander and his backing 80's metal band.  The most balls like Rosfest ever had.. and one of the best single progfest shows I've seen. You haven't lived until you've seen a leather clad guitarist playing his guitar with his teeth at a whimpy Neoprog festival. Unfortunately that kind of band is not exactly the normal for Rosfest.. so again next year.. taking a pass...

^What do you mean? Rosfest has had several prog metal bands over the past few years.

Also, I guess you weren't there a couple of years ago when Dave Kerzner's guitarist glided his guitar across the stage and plucked strings out. Not really my thing since it seemed cheesy to me but to each their own. I think Zebra played that year too(hardly a wimpy band also). I don't know where you get off saying Rosfest bands are wimpy. That's a pretty ridiculous statement in my opinion. Also, this year they have Threshold. Pure prog metal.

Every band that play ROSfest are deemed Neo prog by certain prog fans. Not reflected in the database of this website though. As there are still too many that think that bands like Bent Knee, The Fierce & the Dead, Strawbs, Haken, Caravan, MoeTar, Discipline, Daemonia etc. etc. belongs elsewhere.

But for some, any band that play ROSfest will be regarded as a neo-progressive band afterwards.

Those are a few. Don't forget Electric Asturias.

Anyway, it started out as mostly neo and modern symph but then branched out at some point although it is admittedly still mostly bands who are more accessible than say most of those that play at Progday. I think Lazuli was one of the first bands they had that didn't fit the typical neo sound. Rosfest can do what they want. They aren't trying to appeal to everyone.

Lazuli was the first headliner band of that ilk at least. But even in the first year they had Frogg Cafe in the line-up. But aye, they have focused on bands that have a broader general appeal. That is correct. But it has never been exclusively so, and never exclusively limited to neo and modern symphonic.

Anyone going to RosFest this weekend?

I thought you might enjoy a track from this new record I produced, out soon on Melodic Revolution Records. If you like Zappa, Mike Keneally, Tull's Thick as a Brick / Passion Play, Bent Knee and ELP, you might enjoy this too!

If you like what you hear, be sure to look for it at Nick Katona's merch table this weekend at RoSfest! Or not, you can get it direct from me.
