thankfully most of my posts are trollish bullsh*t so losing them is no great loss I suppose.  Since I've started weening myself off of emoticons I get busted by Captcha far less often than I used to.. but the other night I had two get busted discussing the jazz sensibilities of Yes and forgot to save...  oh well... bummer man.

As I've often said... don't blame D.C.  You all put those idiots in charge.. don't blame Captcha.. blame yourselves for not rising up and forcing M@X to sell to the ultimate populist who would have made PA's truly great again....  the Big Mick...

For those experiencing the same problem. I've figured out the work arounds.  First and foremost is either copy to clipboard and paste into notepad...

^ Don't use emoticons. I always get an error if i use them.
Also delete them from someone's quote (when you're quoting).

Believe me, it's like with dogs - if you show fear it will attack right away (so it's not only emoticons we must avoid, also our inner emotions have to be kept hidden away while posting)

dogs?  Oh no.. more like SATAN!!!!!   Captcha is evil, and very sentient being the owner of a vast intellect with the patience to be able to leave you alone until that moment when you forget about it and don't save that long expansive post and it asks to find the picture of the bridge.. yet NONE of them have one. Hah... Captcha and my ex would have got along great. Then again she probably found out I hung out here and generated Captcha in her cast iron tub with some black magic and sent it here to torture me. You all are just colateral damage on a US military grand scale.

Maybe it's the gif in your signature that the system finds offensive?

Was this the message?

I wish I would have copied (and pasted) what I typed out in a thread.. Is it possible because I'm new?

I use emoticons all the time and rarely get the "sufficient permission" error.  I have noticed though after recently switching from firefox back to chrome that while the rate of captcha check box screens is about the same, the rate of "sufficient permission" errors is significantly higher.

Honestly, I don't think there are any specific actions (yes/no emoticons, setting/disabling cookies, mobile/laptop, etc) that are the magic bullet to predicting/avoiding captcha and it's minions.  After months of this nonsense and reading all the threads about it, I believe the whole thing is random and every time we post, a random number generator decides whether we go through captcha insanity or not Unhappy

The only thing I know is I never hit Post Reply, create a poll or send a PM before I Ctl-A, Ctl-C Wink

Nope, it's just the dreaded captcha - everyone gets it.

I've found a workaround!!! It worked 5 consecutive times for me so I assume it's a real workaround.

1) You post something
2) You get the craptcha
3) You tick the box
4) You get the Only members with sufficient permission can access this page.
5) You go back one page (to the craptcha screen)
6) You refresh the page
7) At the pop up prompting to resubmit just click "yes
8) Tick the craptcha again
9) Your post is safe and finally published
