https://www.dgmlive.com/news/Happy%20Birthday%20King%20Crimson%202018

On this date forty-nine years ago, down in the basement of the Fulham Palace Road Cafe, Greg Lake, Ian McDonald, Michael Giles, Robert Fripp plugged in their instruments and King Crimson were born. The space had been located a week earlier by Peter Sinfield, who along with fellow roadie, Dik Fraser, had helped haul the equipment down the flight of stairs into the cramped surroundings. After setting up the group played for an hour and a half.

Cool!  Happy Birthday to the King!

I wonder when Fripp will release a 20 CD box set of Steven Wilson remixes of that hour and a half rehearsal LOL

^ very funny......is it just me or are all these huge cd sets unnecessary......or does Mr Fripp need money that bad for retirement ?

^ It's just you. ;)

But cool. Hopefully they will commemorate the 50th with something special.

No idea they only jammed for 90 minutes! What a magic hour and a half that must have been. Happy birthday KC!

Ironic, after making the box set joke I spent the rest of yesterday listening to The Road to Red LOL

Honestly though, I think it's great Fripp puts together these boxes...I have The Road to Red and The Great Deceiver and nearly pulled the trigger on Sailors Tales.  I passed because I couldn't imagine listening to the rehearsal auditions more than once and I already have 4 live KC Collectors Club shows from the Islands lineup Wink
