I recommend this band from Australia called 'The Third Ending'. This is really solid prog rock, has heavy parts and also quite melodic. They have 2 great albums now. https://thethirdending.bandcamp.com/ also here's a live performance which is now actually 10 years old but I really love it. One more vote for Promenade. I would strongly recommend listening to Promenade and their album "Noi al dir di noi", starting with the song "Il Secondo Passo", perhaps. My favorite track is "Athletics" but that is really a marathon at a sprint pace, maybe too much to start with. It will probably sweep you away as it did to me. But the whole album is great... They are a new band, coming from Genoa, Italy, with young and very talented musicians, playing and creating high quality progressive music, with a highly coherent and very well played sound, without trying to sound like other bands, but making complex arrangements, intertwining classic influences with jazz rock ambiances that create surprisingly good melodic and intelligent music. It is a one-man ambitious project, from a young guy coming from Portugal with the help of some portuguese musicians, old-timers.
