^ I still say it makes the team overall less dangerous/good when someone of that talent leaves.

But no doubt Stafford has grown/developed this year (which obviously is good for the long haul).

I felt really bad yesterday when the Lions lost and GB won, but I started to think about next week at Dallas on MNF.  It'll be a tough game, but I honestly think they can win.  And yesterday's loss might have been a wake up call to the team and coaches that relying on late game heroics won't always win.  That, and turnovers are killers, especially when about to score a TD.  I'm looking at you, Zenner.

BTW, I wish all of the experts and analysts would get off of the Packers and Rodgers' nuts.  They're still a game behind, and most are already crowning them as North champs.  It's incredibly annoying.

Lions IMHO are better without Johnson as I think it took away a crutch for Stafford and to focus on reads and progressions.

Yeah, enough of Rodgers lovefest....

Steelers vs Ravens on Christmas, Steelers win and they are in.  Bad part is that stupid NFL network only has the game, I refuse to give in to the National Financial League and pay for it...

Oh God, here we go.  Two straight weeks of prime time games for the Lions, and both are essentially playoff games.  This is it.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end it is still a Lion.

^ Yeah, it's looking bad for the Honolulu blue.

At least you guys get SNF in your building for only the second time ever. :p

^^ LOL

Somehow the Steelers pulled one out in the last second against the hated Ravens, always nice to win one against them to make the playoffs and knock them out of it.

You're welcome Lions fans. Wink

Good to see the gmen eliminate the skins. Wasn't sure how playing the starters the whole game was going to be but seems they made it out unscathed.

Worst development of the day...we will all be treated to an Oswiler/Savage V McGloin/Cook all-star match up in the wildcard round. Good god could it be worse?!

Also, congrats to the Browns for securing the #1 pick in the draft even though you had ample opportunities to win the game today!

Guess I'm cheering for the Packers as I'd rather have the Lions in the WC, mind you best chance to beat GB might be in WC, who knows, we're not playing well enough to beat the Boys, Packers or Falcons.

Go 'Hawks!!

Great way to cap the season, not just a win but a win that avenges an earlier loss to a rival in grand fashion: Denying them the playoffs. Giants finish 11-5. Given I expected them to be .500 at best a few weeks in, can't say much negative. The offense is worrisome, no idea what the hell happened but that defense is nasty. I believe they allowed the fewest touchdowns in the entire NFL, and they held another pretty potent offense at bay. Onward to the playoffs!!

Thank you for providing a ticket to the big dance....even if the Seahawks peck their eyes out we can at least add another playoff chapter to our horrendous history.

I look at it this way: who in their right minds had predicted the Lions would end up at 9-7 this year? Nearly every "expert" had predicted a losing record for the Lions. They had no running backs for most of the year (Theo Riddick led the Lions with a grand total of 357 yards rushing), their offensive line was often populated with mostly rookies, their cornerback and linebacking corps were a procession of second and third-string players, and their defensive line could not generate a consistent pass rush (who would expect anything from the line with Ziggy Ansah getting only two sacks the whole year?).

Whatever. They are not a great team, but they're in the playoffs. They have exceeded initial expectations. I feel better about the Lions than the fans of the Buccaneers or Redskins do this morning.

Sort of a boring weekend this past Sunday as not many games decided much.  Hopefully Steelers will handle the Dolphins this weekend.

The Gmen and Pack is an interesting match up, hard to tell which way that one will go.

Lions have a tall task out in the big ditch in Seattle.  Texans/Raiders, battle of the little known QBs.

My God, did the Lions back into the playoffs in the ugliest of ways, but hey, it is a playoff appearance.  I'd like to think we have a shot against a banged up Seahawks team, but history tells me that we'll be one and done again and Stafford will be solely focused on for not winning.

The Packers are always scary, especially since their offensive inconsistencies seem to have been hammered out. I find it no coincidence Jordy's return has lead to a better offense, and as the year went on (as in his health improving fully and he knocks off the rust) so went the offense.

That said, Giants defense has been nasty. Usually I'd feel confident in us exploiting their porous defense but we suck on offense nowLOL On paper, this will be a defensive battle.

AFC matchups mar what could have been an exciting weekend of football. Really, the only game I'm interested in watching is the Giants one. :p

Like I've been saying for the past month: is the game winnable for the Lions tomorrow?  Sure, but will they win?  No.
