Nice show, but much of their later stuff's a bit too repetitive for my taste. Got a very good impression of the title track from Radio-Activity though, hadn't heard that one before. Need to get that album, as well as Autobahn, Computer World, Tour de France and their early krautrock ones, to complement the two I have.) Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine (When I came home from the concert, after finishing this, I watched a couple of episodes of Mr. Robot ) Ozric Tentacles - Technicians of the Sacred Meshuggah - I (The Tom Ozric Transition (TOT for short): from the Tentacles to Meshuggah, a mentally challenging one to make, I have no idea how he does it on a regular basis ) Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree Meshuggah - Koloss Enslaved - Isa Enslaved - Ruun Enslaved - Vertebrae Enslaved - Riitiir Enslaved - In Times Opeth - Still Life Opeth - Blackwater Park Opeth - Deliverance Opeth - Ghost Reveries Mastodon - Blood Mountain Mastodon - Crack the Skye Mastodon - Once More 'Round the Sun WatchTower - Energetic Disassembly WatchTower - Control and Resistance Voivod - Killing Technology Voivod - Target Earth Thantifaxath - Sacred White Noise Gorguts - Obscura Encenathrakh - s/t Ulver - Bergtatt: Et Eeventyr i 5 Capitler Ulver - Kveldssanger Ulver - Nattens Madrigal: Aatte Hymne til Ulven i Manden Carlos Danger - Now That's What I Call Carlos Danger Volume Two! (With no crowd noise this is a somewhat pointless live album, especially since their studio albums are mostly of the live-in-studio variety anyway. Hopefully their next live album, which will be released tomorrow, will be another matter. I was in attendance the night they recorded it, at Oslo Jazz Festival back in '14. Joined by David Wallumrød and saxophonist extraordinaire Kjetil Møster, they were literally on fire that night. It's the most ferociously explosive concert I've ever experienced, so I can't wait to hear it again. If the album turned out anything like I remember the show it'll be a very strong candidate for my album of the year.) |

PFM - Per Un Amico
Deep Purple - Machine Head J.E.T. - Fede Speranza Carita. Some great moments but overall just good. They sound like Purple fans (as opposed to the VDGG or Genesis inspired bands). Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aero |

I'd really like to see Krafwerk as well, they played here last year but it was on the same month as Gouveia Art Rock, although it was so good I didn't even felt bad about not going By the way, we still haven't looked into Huntsville yet

Back home yesterday evening. Glad to be back in my sonic sanctuary.
Had a good work week though, so thank you SAM for the wishes buddy! The tea Party-- Transmission. ( it's been more than 10 yrs since I've re-visited this album. Long story short. I have of an appreciation for this Jeff Martin labor of love than ever before! Really glad I spun this again. ) The Tea Party-- Release (Single.) very rare and cool gem I picked up leaving London this week. The remix of Save Me with the use of the Alhambra is incredible. And Rhys Fulber who is a god to me, remixed temptation. Very cool. Opeth-- Ghost Reveries ( takes a few listens to really get how truly awesome this album is. I think I will buy Sorceress cause it may be a return to heavier styles. ;) Allen & Lande -- The Revenge ( just some power metal guilty pleasure stuff. Some great choruses on this record. Master of sorrow is definitely worth a listen. ) Vangelis-- 1492: conquest of paradise. (I simply adore this one. It's all from the heart by this Greek god. ;) Oceans of slumber-- Blue ( EP ) - I hope a lot of you (my friends) who are married to this thread will give this a listen. It will surprise you. The covers are just brilliant. Go for it. ;) Redemption-- snowfall on judgement day ( I still really love the track WALLS. The chorus is addictive. It has stayed in my head for years now. Lol) |

Alphataurus - Alphataurus Still can't dig this album. It's not that anything bugs me really, but I just can't seem to find that "a-ha" factor in it. It's well composed and well crafted, but I guess it just does not correspond with my soul. It has some really nice moments on the last two tracksz, though.
Fred Frith - Gravity I really like this album. The fusion of oriental and Eastern European dance folk rhythms and Frithy avant-rock material just simply "clicks" and makes sense. Recommended! UFO - Flying. One Hour Space Rock. Exactly a year ago, when I already listened to some prog, but was not a dedicated listener, I discovered this album. It sitill occupies a very special sentimental territory in my heart - this is the definitive space music to me. Peter Brotzmann Sextet, Quartet - Nipples As I said, I listen to free jazz often. Sometimes it works like stomach bitters - it makes me vomit all of the melodies from my head and approach more melodic stuff as more of a carte blanche sort of thing. But this album is actually pretty nice and enjoyable. |

Categories strain, crack and sometimes break, under their burden - step out of the space provided.

Planets - Turbo Jamz. Intense. Il Mucchio - One of the earliest RPI bands, from 1970. Not a great album, but interesting for being one of the bridge bands from the 60s to the Italian prog era. |

Last couple of days: Aiming for Enrike - Mao Miro Aiming for Enrike - Segway Nation The Samuel Jackson Five - Same Same But Different The Samuel Jackson Five - Seasons in the Hum
Great album! Actually, I bought it on your recommendation. Thanks, never regretted that purchase!
Thanks! An all new and shiny thread, not yet dented in the corners. Nice! Yeah, I'm fine, thanks for asking, just been busy with stuff. How are you, Sam? Yeah, regarding Huntsville, I noticed you guys haven't voted on them yet. Just as well perhaps, I've been thinking we should perhaps have a crack at them in post rock first, as we've just cleared a band not too dissimilar sounding.
Lovely album. One of two I own by him, the other being "Heaven and Hell". Not sure which of them I prefer though, find both to be pretty good.
Pretty much the same feelings I have towards this album. Got to give it a listen again soon, to freshen up my memory, been a while since I gave it a spin.
Nice! Another one I need to revisit soon.

Only two for me yesterday:
Black Sabbath - Never Say Die - a terrific album from them! Latte e Miele - Pappilon - I'm still not a massive fan of this one. It's perfectly lovely and well-played, and there's an interesting fusion of classical themes, Le Orme/ELP-like keyboard/drumming bombast and melodic song-writing with radio-friendly vocals, but the reprising use of a light theme before every track on the first side gets tedious quickly. The second side was a bit more dynamic. Still, I think I'll keep it in the car a little while longer (I've got a Mini-LP reissue of it). |
