I prefer Hergest Ridge these days, it seems a more mature work than Tubular Bells... or maybe it's because I listened to the later much more times and the former took me a while to get into. I do have the 2010 remix of HG and not the original one though.

I definitely prefer HR material and overall style, as for Tubular Bells although it has its moments I don't like the sound it's going for. I think Ommadawn is his masterpiece, very close for being perfect imo.
Btw what's the 2010 reissue? The one with the demo versions?

HG is beautiful, especially the Spanish tune, it always gives me goosebumps.
I still appreciate TB for its epicness and naivety though. I was 18 when I first heard it and I was thinking "this guy was my age when he recorded all this?". It's certainly an impressive debut.
Ommadawn's only fault is being too short Wink
The 2010 reissue is a few minutes shorter and has some differences that someone here made me aware of, but I don't know them since I don't have the original. I have a TB + HG(2010) compilation so it doesn't have the bonus tracks, or the original version.

I rarely prefer a remix to the original version, I stopped buying those and stick with remasters.

In this case only the alternative cover suggests it's the 2010 remix and I ordered it without knowing that. I'm still hoping to find an original vinyl copy of it in mint condition.

Last day in London. Cry It was a fantastic, memorable trip and I discovered so many record stores and so many "underground" places I had never thought existed in London.
Magma - K.A.
Isn't it incredible how Christian Vander still managed to compose something quite fresh, interesting, and explorative in 2004? Most older legends keep on releasing albums that are, well, all too often unneeded, boring, and just simply uninnovative. This is not the case with Magma. This is right up there with MDK.
Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso - Darwin! This is great! I love Banco! This seems to be a much more mature effort than the debut. They have polished their sound greatly and it just seems tidier. As amazing as it is, I feel it lacks just a touch of that inexplicable magic of their first effort. Anyway, maybe it's just a bad impression on a first listen. Great album!

Spent most of my day on a plane and a train and now I'm back home
Area - Arbeit Macht Frei After 2 or 3 listens, this album really starts to kick. The more I listen to it, the more unique it seems. Both the composition and performance are top notch! Victor Edouard is the Paganini of the saxophone!
Ashra - New Age Of Earth Great airplane music, shall we say "true Music For the Airports". Smile But really, this is such a great album. Not only does it take you for a flight around the sky, it also has so much emotion in it. Great!
Ashra - Blackouts Another fantastic Ashra album. Manuel seems to have found a better balance between sequencer-based, synth solo pieces, adding more guitars and overall variety to his music. Another amazing album!
The whole "a" thing is a coincidence.

Sadly, even though I'm home, I cannot listen to the 12 albums I bought, because of a renovation in my house that has been going on for a while now. Plus, I've got two more records that I bought earlier. Anyway, at least I've got my trusty Bose speaker and my computer...
Le Orme - Uomo Di Pezza Very nice album, very, very nice. The romantic quality of it that everyone is talking about really proved to be true. As always, fantastic keyboard work and amazing-sounding synthesizers. Something I will have to come back to!
Jean Guerin - Tacet I bet you didn't know this guy! At least most of you... He put out one solo album in 1971, which fuses ambient electronic and free jazz influences. The result is really stunning - very original and complex. Just why is this so obscure?
Henry Cow - Unrest This is that one album that I wrote a review of too quickly... I decided to edit it and just discovered how great this album is really. My approach to free improvisation was different then and I might have come across as quite close-minded. Anyway, better later than nether.
