I've really been appreciating Duncan Browne's two solo records from the '70s lately - great stuff though it doesn't quite hit the peaks of the more popular prog artists of that time. Browne's merits got a tip of the hat from Bowie when he covered "Criminal World" (Browne was in the band Metro) but I think his solo records, particularly The Wild Places, are some prog gems.

Love that guy, especially the second album (1973). But the first (1968) is great too. He's very close sometimes of Mc Cartney at his best.

I wish the "METRO" album, before his solo albums, would also get a release ... it is hard to find, and I'm not even sure it is on CD yet.
 
Wild Places and the next album are superlative and exceptional! And I have joyed them and appreciated the musicianship since the very day these came out. I have heard the METRO stuff, a couple of songs anyway, and they were also very good and in the vein of "Wild Places". The early album is nice, but not really as valuable as the metro/Solo stuff later.

The first two albums are excellent.....the first is toned down a bit, but the second is livelier.  Both are definitely worth tracking down.....though I think this is much easier these days as both have been re-released with bonus tracks.  Duncan Browne's first two were sure tough to come by back in the day.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

Yeah, I was actually listening to one of the Metro records after Duncan Browne quit...it was generic new wave...a few nice moments but Browne pretty much took the magic with him.

I have the Metro album,but no record player.
Found it on I-Tunes,which is OK with me.
