watched the latest "Tatort" titled "Im gelobten Land" ("In the Promised Land") yesterday. better than average, though not as good as "Im Schmerz geboren" ("Born in Pain"), the best "Tatort" ever which had the quality of an exceptionally excellent movie.

"Tatort" (German for "scene of the crime") is a German language police procedural series produced by the channel ARD that has been around since 1970 (the first episode was broadcast Nov 29th 1970). what makes "Tatort" special is that it is jointly produced by all of the station's regional public-service broadcasters whereby every regional station contributes a number of episodes to a common pool. this means the series is a collection of different police stories where different police teams each solve crimes in their respective city. uniqueness in architecture, customs and dialects of the cities is therefore a distinctive part of the series. each episode is 90 minutes long, so the story can be told with more psychological depth than usual cop series do (taken from Wikipedia with small editions by me).

even Austria and Switzerland occasionally contribute episodes of the series, so it is not an exclusively German series, just German language.

yesterday's "Tatort" took place in Stuttgart and was about illegal immigrants and people traffickers. it also included a hostage situation with one of the cops being one of the hostages

Watch tv as little as possible.

Watching  season 2  "The Village" on DVD.

Americans could never do a series like this.

The best films are about pride & honour (but not stupid American-style nationalistic honour.)
