musicianship with easy to listen to vocals that blend nicely with the music. With two keyboards
and two guitars there are some great piano parts and excellent guitar solos.
"Essere" has fewer vocals but they still blend so the majority of the album is instrumental.
It's a little more jazz influenced than the first album and has some impressive acoustic guitar and
accented with interesting keyboard sounds.
I rate these two very close but if IL Volo had been a one album band I would have preferred that
Essere O Non Essere be that one album.
Does anyone have opinions on this band?

For me, Il Volo is a good band, but they don't reach the heights of the best bands of the era. They have their moments but are never able to sustain that level over the course of a single album. Of the two albums, I agree in that I prefer Essere over the debut.

Those first two are outstanding, both masterpieces. Arco Iris is excellent also.

That band is from Spain by the way...
I recently searched Latin progressive rock on YouTube and listened to several bands.
I eventually purchased Metamorfosis (Spain), Praxis (Mexico) and Caja De Pandora (Mexico).

Agree, Todd! It's a bit unfair that I look down on it a bit just because I love the original so much.

But at the same time, I got to listen to the first Venegoni and Co album today, and I think I find that a little more exciting than it.

Not to worry! I've just begun listening to both of them, so early days yet!

I'll look forward to a new Arti e Mestieri album as well!

I have several of their live albums, all good, especially the one which has both a 1974 performance and a more recent show. Both are equally as good!

Now, can I asked what everyone's opinions on this ons is:

ARTI E MESTIERI - Giro Di Valzer Per Domani

It's the second album...Now, the debut `Tilt' is one of my favourite albums, I actually find it to be a real classic. A great mix of eclectic fusion, symphonic prog and even some light RPI elements too.

So maybe I'm just a bit too in love with the debut...but I don't enjoy this second album as much. The playing is still terrific, but I don't think it has as much of an `identity' as the first one. Sounds like a lot of other fusion bands. I don't like the vocal pieces as much on this one either.

Maybe I'm being unfair to it....

Love both of these albums, but I agree the first is better. The second could have been so much better had they better utilized the amazing voice of Gianfranco Gaza (from Procession)--he only appears on a couple tracks, and he seems almost an afterthought.

Indeed it is, love that album. Haven't played it in a while but I'm going to have to now!

This is one of those albums that I'm always waiting to hear for the next time, I was just listening to it a few days ago and just had to put it in again, it is not only my favorite Italian prog album but one of the top prog albums I know.
Anyone knows the From Butterfly To Cocoon DVD? It has a few great unreleased tracks in it.

That Butterfly set is quite good.

^^ Love that Branduardi album, but I also love his second. The several that follow are good, but they don't match the first two.

So did they bag the intended concept around Il Grande Belzoni planned a few years ago? They only released an EP, supposedly in anticipation of that project.
