Thanks, HT. How's everything going with your son?
I'll have to check it out. I'll fish around for it.

1- He probably listened to Capt Lockheed & the Starfighters (Bob Calvert) and promptly ejected himself over Baffin Island (look it up, kiddies)
2- missing Malaysian Airliner?

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

I think the captains pushed his ejector seat button. Quite a pity that he got some bad vibes. I liked his reviews.

Me too. He worked his way up to the Admin Zone and then suddenly disappeared off the radar. I always wondered what has become of him.

Hey, at least we do have a host of regulars here, for now....... I will never understand those who fade away within the annals of time..... Perhaps those who have a 'life' move on from this transient, cyber-space episode in their lives, others just linger ( like I do), and others may visit perennially for the sake of pure interest ....... Whatever, those who've moved on , good luck, those who stick around, cheers to you, those that accidentally stumble upon PA, I wish you luck.......

Yes, Eric is a great guy, and one of the few people I miss from FB (which otherwise I do not miss at all). As to Jon, I hope he's doing well. Very nice guy, and very knowledgeable about music. On the other hand, I am very happy to do without Walter, Henry Plainview and other such "colourful" characters. We have to face enough aggravation in everyday life to want more of it on a music forum.
|
I miss Henry Plainview but not WalterDigsTunes. I might have disagreed with HP on pretty much everything, but most of what he wrote made me rethink about the basic issues at hand. At least that happened when we engaged in an in-depth discussion. If you think oldschool ProgArchives was bad, you should have been on Metal-Archives from 2006-2008 when I posted there. Basically Stormfront with more junkies. Now all those types have been forced unto reservations at deathmetal.org and Nuclear War Now!.

I have recently seen his reviews (written under his real name) on ProgSphere, a very nice website with which I have collaborated for a while.

Honestly, I feel a bit guilty regarding a thing between the two of us a few years ago and you proposed we add Steely Dan and I pushed too hard against it and it got contentous. This came on the heels of you defending me against a pretty heartless attack against me when I was going through a bad health issue. It was never personal. Believe me.

you would be surprised. I did get a bit out there and you know me, when I get rolling and when I start foaming at the mouth I have the tendency to really say what I think and feel and often it can appear to insult and degrade those different. Never intended though. However yeah, I did get unfriended a few times which I always understood. As Raff often tells me... I can be a real hand-ful to deal with. As far as that... we all were a bit crazy then. I understood completely. We all were a bit overly passionate then, long forgiven and long forgotten. As far as that other unfortunately incident, I did what anyone would have done. You are a sweetheart, the dude who came at you was trash. I will defend a friend in a heartbeat, and back then I also got great kicks at taking out the trash with some of the morons we used to have posting here. Part of the internet tough guy schtick which I loved mainly because it is so in reality from what I really am Great to see you back. I don't think it will take you long to see what Raff and I have noticed, many have, the forum today is a MUCH different place than it was during the 'glory' days.

Hi, Tom. To be honest, I had a pretty nasty run in with a member with some venomous PM's being exchanged. I'd have to go back and look them over, but for the life of me I don't recall what it was over. It was pretty nasty, though. That probably started it for me. For all of it's faults, Facebook put me back in contact with people who have long since left my life through moving, jobs, or just the natural order of separation. One of the guys with whom I've come in contact was a catalyst in getting me into Rush back in high school and it's been close to 30 years since I've seen him. So, for me Facebook served a grand purpose and I've spent the majority of my time over there the past 5 years or so. In my case, it may have been a conscious effort to split from Progarchives. I've met some very good people here, and this thread reminds me that they're still around. E

I don't get the forum nonsense. If I venture online, it's for a positive experience .. an escape from day to day ho hum surrounded by people who I have nothing in common with. If I wanted to fight, i'd still be married. unfortunately the anonymity of the internet gives people licence to behave in ways they wouldn't dare in public. (it's why those particular people are bitter, miserable, shut-in basement dwellers, who's only way of affecting the world around them is via a negative exchange with some faceless person on the other end of a wire) I'm digging this forum because it's kept pleasant. I agree with anyone who takes a walk once it turns unpleasant. I do the same (without fanfare or announcement) I hate this attitude of 'if you don't like it - ignore it, it's just the internet'. How do people not understand that everyone else here is also a person and unless they're deeply emotionally damaged, they expect a mutually pleasant experience online. sorry - that came from nowhere ..

Well, I'm not claiming innocence. I'm sure I've played the 'douche bag' card from time-to-time. Yeah, I know it's hard to believe to those who know me. E

Hey, I've come to accept your political beliefs, you pinko liberal. Somebody tried to bait me into a big political discussion on Facebook last week. It really is a never ending cluster &*%! when you get to argue politics. Nobody budges. I've mellowed a lot since. Things have happened that have put things into perspective. E

He made his old man proud by going out and buying "Foxtrot" and "Nursery Cryme." Only 11 years old!

just wait till he finally meet ol' evil Uncle Micky...I'll have him appreciating the brilliance of Phil Collins and digging Misunderstanding and learning the secret truth that prog Genesis is the single greatest cure for insomnia prog rock has ever given us. Let him have an evening with me and my Osanna CD's... he'll never go back to Genesis again hahaha

loudly and proudly pink and liberal It is nice to leave it at home though Eric. FB drew it out in me, and a drip becomes a torrent for me. One of the many reasons I finally gave up on FB. I leave it at home here. I do like that about the site, so much music, so much mischief, so little room for the really important stuff It is an escape. The thing that drew me to it in the first place. Instead of escaping my own personal hell.. I just escape the big picture hell and how this country is going right down the toilet.
