You are very welcomeSmile! I was so lucky as to see Aranis open the final edition of NEARfest, two years ago. They were fantastic, and easily one of the best performances of the festival. As to Piazzolla, he was definitely one of the biggest influences on the band, and - if my memory serves me right- they have recorded some of his compositions.
 
Thumbs Up Cool to know that, as I love Astor Piazzolla's music! And it's also cool to know that NEARfest has been featuring so varied groups, Univers Zero was there too in 2004? I know nothing about UZ neither, and definitley looking forward to order some album from them. I've read they belong to the subgenre RIO as well, I think it's going to be my first time diging into it btw.

Awesome to know it Raff! And I just checked out the site Altrock, it's amazing to see such a great amount of new artists out there to discover, besides the older and better known ones. And a big surprise reading the 'ULTIME NEWS' section - awesome that there is another Locanda delle Fate's album released in 2012! So excited to know it, I ought to have it too! My goodness I would have loved to be present at that 'meraviglioso spettacolo' in Italy at the Teatro Alfieri, Asti. Maldizione!...Cry hahahh , thanks again for your valuable support Smile
 
EDIT: I didn't know this 2012 album was already reviewed in PA, my fault for just forgetting to keep an eye on the site's band discography Embarrassed, it's indeed a must-have: accessible and strongly melodic symph prog.

Definitely a band that deserves a prog nod, at least for their first two albums.  “Helleborine” was the first, and one that would fit comfortably in the subcategory of chamber prog, IMO.

I and others certainly have used the phrase, it's a good descriptive.   Subgenre?   Unnecessary at the moment but if we start seeing more chamberprog bands you never know.   But I doubt it even with a New Wave of Chamber Prog.

A thread about chamber prog but no one mentioned Finnegans Wake??
I think they are really one of the best examples of this "genre", for anyone who's looking to get into this kind of style I think FW will be a good start because they do have a good balance between the chamber and rock. 
These guys are a must!

4th & Blue are my favorites, The Birds & The Sky Above was a weird side step, not a fan, Red is ok but not up with the others.

Afenginn have a new album out in a couple of months and just released this 'making of' video:
 
 
It's going to be a suite of four twenty-minute movements entitled Opus.  Sounds good to me - in similar vein to 2013's Lux, but with brass, piano and vocals added to the mix this time.

I would add Swedish band Isildurs Bane to the list, primarily a symphonic prog band but later evolved and added some chamber prog to their style. Mind Volume 1 is a masterpiece imo...

This is the album's opener, it later gets much more chambery but still maintains a good balance.

This is all I've been listening to the last week or so. A LOT of great music....so much that it's a bit overwhelming. My one line summation of the work would be "Chamber Prog's 'Tales from Topographic Oceans'".

I have yet to fully absorb all of it so I can't write my definitive review at this time, but, I have no issues at all with giving this a 4.5 Star Rating at this time. Quite possibly the definitive Chamber Prog work up to this time.

^ Thumbs Up Yeah, I have it and it's one of my favourites of this year. I don't know if I'd say it was the definitive chamber prog album, but it's certainly the band's masterwork to date. But as you say, there's an awful lot to absorb and I'm still doing that.
