Thoughts on this one, Gentlemen?
http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=245 Just picked up a second-hand CD of it for a few dollars. I've heard their `4th' album a few years back and found it a little busy, but I hope this one is alright! Please offer your thoughts if you've heard it! |

I'm a big DFA fan and love all their albums. They are all pretty much at the same level IMO, and they don't vary much from the successful formula. It's a real shame that their keyboard player died suddenly not too long ago.

I remember reading about about the keyboard player, Todd. I saw a performance of them on the prog documentary DVD `Romantic Warriors' and was pretty impressed!

DFA where amongst the strongest beyond 70s bands out of Italy
(and not only from there). I kinda like the live album the most, but all their Albums are fabolous. Compared to the 4th the live one has still a lot of the space rock vibe they had on the first two Albums. I love the 4th too, but it's more on the Jazz Rock side and the live one kicks more ass. |

Nice videos! I wonder whose idea it was to put them in the boats. Pretty funny!
I'm really enjoying the new album by Stranafonia. Great stuff! Edit: It gets good at about 1:30. This isn't the best song on the album (the title track and Tre).

^^Stranafonia is on my "to buy list"
P.I.S. is really cool. I think somehow the Progressivamente lable is behind that, as they where behind the latest Sony rereleases batch. Some more Two guys from Rovescio della Medaglia with the Drummer from Metamorfosi and the bass Player from Etna,Flea,Uovo di Colombo and some guys from Sinfonia (looking forward to their Album they are reknown session players) Edited by TheH - October 15 2014 at 13:40 |

^ I just purchased the Progressivamente Story 1970-2014 compilation CD, which has several tracks from the bands affiliated with P.I.S. (Floydiana, Italia '70, Saint Just Again, Metamorfosi, Hexperos, Church of prog, etc). It's an interesting compilation with mostly live tracks and demos, some album tracks, and a couple early 70's singles (Fholks, Officina Meccanica). Note that it's a totally different release from the Progressivamente 1973-2003 compilation CD, although a few songs and artists are the same.

Purchased this one too, a really nice compilation. Liked the teaser tracks for new projects to come like Sinfonia and Church of Prog. As most of the tracks are related to P.I.S or bands releated to the Progressivamente lable, I asked myself why there is a track form Ezra Winston (never expected to hear something from them again).

Somehow never got into Randone. I'm not to wild about the vocals. If there is a stream or samples I will check again.

Actually, I was like you, not very inspired by what I had heard. But this is different , I assure you. Go to Bandcamp, its there I believe.

Yeah, I agree totally. That Sinfonia track is really good, and they have a track on that 2003 Progressivamente compilation too. And I had no idea that Ezra Winston had ever contemplated a comeback. Their track is quite good!

I liked Hybla, but I hadn't been too inspired by the other things of his that I'd heard. So Ultreia never really hit my radar. When I heard it, though, I was surprised at how much I liked it. I think I like it as well as Hybla.

Pierre!
Thank you for originally bringing the Aktuala band to my attention! I bought the 3 CD reissues a few months back, and just got around to reviewing the first one now. What a special, wonderful band! |

Ingranaggi Della Valle started working on their new Album!!!
Daal's new Album is now going to be mastered. Narrow Pass and Barnum's Freak have posted (Facebook) what seems to be the covers of their new albums. You can now order a DVD of the acoustic concerts of Il Tempio delle Clessidre (from the band direct) (I posted a track a few pages back, Awesome!) Teaser for comeback Album of Spettri (they are from the 70s). (Progressive Hardrock) |
