Listening to this track - Starkey's drumming is amazing, Palladino plays his JAE best, Daltrey's voice is powerful, Townshend is good all the way - I think that the last studio album by the The Who will be great.

I think the up-and-coming Floyd release will be great - it is a dedication to Richard Wright after all.....
This doesn't necessarily mean it will be a success.......
I've never been a fan of The Who, but with Entwistle no longer with us (let alone Ol' Keith) - I find it hard to grasp it will have ANY magic, like the few moments I recall.......
.........but I am not a follower of this band, though Live At Leeds is the only document that does ANYTHING for me.

Well, no one is a superhuman that can love equally all of so great opus. The Who is a band that had many stages, so there are fans who like only e.g. 60s The Who, you know - their debut album, also the great 60s songs as Happy Jack, Boris The Spider, Pictures of Lily, I Can See For Miles..
I like most that middle 70s The Who - By Numbers, Tommy Soundtrack, Live at Charlton 1974, Live in Houston 1975 and Live at Swansea 1976 especially (my fav The Who live record), and regarding this new song, I think that I'll like their last studio album.

I wish them all the best, but that new track didn't excite me one bit.

It;s a decent song and sounds like something that could have been on the Who Are You sessions....but I can't say it

is anything special.

As someone above said.....a retirement package album.

One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

The Who’s first song in eight years explicitly references Daft Punk and AC/DC. Be Lucky, which will appear on the band’s forthcoming 50th anniversary compilation, claims the Australian rockers and the French DJs can both help you achieve your dreams.

“You wanna climb without a safety line/ AC/DC’s gonna be fine,” Roger Daltrey sings over Pete Townshend’s guitar riffs. Elsewhere in the song, he alludes to the commercial appeal of AC/DC’s biggest song: “If you want to want to sell/ you’ve got to kiss and tell/ And you’ve got to do a cover of Highway to Hell.”

The references to AC/DC are bittersweet, coming in the week it was announced the group’s founding guitarist, Malcolm Young, was having to leave the group owing to ill health.

As for Daft Punk, they are part of a similar refrain: “You want to climb without a safety line/ Daft Punk will tell you that it’s gonna be fine.” Soon an AutoTuned voice pipes up, mimicking Daft Punk’s robo-effect.

Aside of 50th anniversary compilation CD, a new studio album is gonna be released in spring 2015, Daltrey said for The Who.com

I mind you that the singles are not necessarily the best songs of an album when it's recorded by The Who, at least since Her Majesty Quadrophenia - minus Face Dances.

Here is what Roger had to say about the new song.

“We've been in the studio recording for the first time in 7 years, and we had this one recorded. We got a greatest hits thing coming out, and we're going to put it on that, and we're also putting it out as a single. If anyone wants to download it, all the proceeds are going to our American version of Teenage Cancer Trust. I think we’ve made a great record.

Pete always writes original stuff. It's very original, it's very different, but in some ways it's very Who 1973. So, it's got a lot going for it I think. He writes alone, he writes all manner of material, and he presents it to us. Some of them I tell him they're a load of rubbish, but not many. Not that they’re rubbish, it's just that they're not suited for The Who. The ones that work, work, and here's one of them.

It's not bad, better than most of the stuff on Endless Wire which I never really liked.

Endless Wire is actually an avarage Townshend's solo album, recorded mostly by him himself in his home studio, but with Daltrey on it. However, there are a few great songs.
