IL VOLO!
I never meant to check out their debut album since I always had their second album Essere O Non Essere and for some reason wasn't really that impressed. But recently I checked one of their debut songs and really liked what I've heard. So now that I have the album I must say I really really like it, not all the songs are in the same quality but they are all good with a few song that are excellent! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oR5DAn3GOHw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHzG6IF9o-w |

It is good from the Youtube clip I played of it, Sagi, sadly there's only expensive CDs and original LP's of it around at this point! Badly in need of a nice new affordable (mini LP?!) ressiue!

I just listened to their first album on Spotify: the bass guitar work is incredible.
Essere is next. |

Yep. Il Volo are amongst the best musicians of RPI. Love how they play.

Pierre! I bought he remastered CD's of this one and another Doris album called `Raptus' a few months back, I've only listened to them briefly, but I remember one was realy good and the other average - I just don't remember which one! Will have to play them both again! |

I don't know both albums very well, but I think that Parapsycho is better than Raptus.

"Come una Zanzara" is great indeed. It's a shame they only recorded two albums.

How about "Il Calore Umano" one of my fave prog pieces ever! The Alberto Radius guitar solo is sizzle-ville

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Finally wrapped up my growing Synphonic Order with a few months of stuff, and these are the Italian titles I got - sadly the Alphataurus DVD/CD set wouldn't fit in the package, so that will have to wait until my next order!
Distillerie di Malto - Suono! http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=43866 Phoenix Again - Look Out http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=44916 Forza Elettromotrice (F.E.M Prog Band) - Sulla Bolla di Sapone: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=45094 Fabio Zuffanti - La Quarta Vittima: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=43762 Syndone - Odysseas: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=43905 Accordo dei COntrari - AdC: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=45550 Il Castello di Atlante - Capitolo 8: Live (DVD/CD): http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=45689 and finally: Nodo Gordiano - Nous (Jim! I'm certain I recall you reviewing this one?!): http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=44776 *** One or two I've already heard, but will report back as I make my way through them. |

Michael, yeah I loved that NG album!
Your post also inspired me to listen to some Doris on YT. Pretty cool and wild music! And those eyes of hers. Wow. |

Great, Jim, I'll give it a listen shortly! My order was getting really expensive, so I had to cull several titles, but because in the back of my mind I kept thinking `I'm sure Jim gave that one a very positive review...', I made sure to keep that one in!
You (and Pierre!) have inspired me to properly dig those two Doris CD's out and really listen to them properly. I think at least one of them was pretty good! There's apparently going to be a Bartoccetti book released by Black Widow sometime (I think) next year! From what I can tell it was be a history of his music, interviews, photos, etc, but the post I read on Black Widow's Facebook page seemed pretty unsure! Very slight details so far, but one to no doubt keep an eye on. Edited by Aussie-Byrd-Brother - August 13 2014 at 21:33 |

and that, my friend, is exactly why I also left that in the order! I vividly recalled you telling me you thought very highly of it! The reissue of the sole `Capsicum Red' album was one I ditched...I know it's notorious for it's wretched mixing, which really robbed the album of it's potential. I like slowly adding some more obscure vintage RPI titles to my collection, so I may stil get it, but it didn't survive this current round. They need someone like Steven Wilson to tear it apart and put it back together! |
