Been a while since I visited this one....perfect for a summer night. Checked their website and it appears there is no news....maybe this band will end up a one-off, in the tradition of some of the classic bands....

Hey there Den-izens, were any of you aware that Cherry Five, the pre-Goblin band, have reformed?! Two of the original members Tartarini Antonio and Carlo Bordini have added Gianluci De Rossi of modern RPI band Taproban on keyboards (an exceptional player!), Pino Sallusti on bass and Ludwig Piccinini on guitar.
They are currently recording a new album that translates to `The Well of the Giants', and it wll be out on Black Widow later in the year! Exciting news for some of us I'm sure! |

Actually Nick, I don't think any of the current `Claudio Simeonetti's Goblin' or `New Goblin' members are part of that Cherry Five line-up, so don't know what happened...HAve you checked their sites of Facebook pages? Sorry to hear about that, mate!

Nick, I just went to the `Simonetti's Goblin' website, clciked on the Facebook link there....and nothing. The page has gone, so makes me wonder if that incarnation has folded as well...

I have no trouble with Simonetti's Goblin site,
up and running. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Goblin-Claudio-Simonettis/608532229212354 Concerts were cancelled out of contract conflicts. Chery Five reunion is really cool. A band reunites that never exited at all (they where already Goblin when they recorded that album) The "other" Goblin is also in running order: https://www.facebook.com/goblinofficialpage?notif_t=fbpage_fan_invite Edited by TheH - July 01 2014 at 14:12 |

I've been listening to Libra's debut lately, and it's amazing how you
hear different things when you give an album a second chance, it's like
listening to an entirely different album and it makes you wonder Where the hell was I?
I'm glad I rediscovered this album now and I know what was my problem with it in the first place. It's not proper Italian symphonic album, it's not dark and it's not raw, meaning it's 90% different than all RPI albums. First of all it enjoys one of the best recordings and a crystal clear sound, unlike most of RPI albums. The music is very melodic and the melodies are sweet, but still it's interesting and progressive, I'd say it's like an Italian Alan Parsons Project. This might not be everyone's cup of tea but one thing is for sure, the playing is simply superb, man this is some killer guitar playing, just how I like it to be. I actually didn't intend to write all of this, it's somehow just slipped, I just wanted to post this video |

Sagi...that Libra album...is there some chance it was also released in English? That cover looks familiar...I seem to recall Triumvirat Doug mentioned it to me once, but when I checked it out on Youtube, it couldn't have sounded less Italian (and not due to the English vocals!)...it just had a very American sound! Does that sounds like this one to you? (Can't play the clip, I'm at work)

Yes I know it was released in English, but I never saw it anywhere and it's not listed in the archives as well, maybe you guys need to fix that one?
I was talking about the Italian version, and that's the reason I posted it here. As I said it doesn't sound Italian except for the vocals, so you need to approach it a little differently, but the music is really good if you don't mind a little sugar in your prog. |

^ Not so bad Coaster, but as always the Italian version is by far the better one.
I've been listening to it on repeat the last few days and it's just getting better and better, this is superb music RPI or not, it even reminds me of Maxophone (minus the brass) in a few places. I begining to think Triumvirat Doug's rating is not that far off at all. The opener is a killer... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFpVzvHQuyY |

^ I am not familiar yet with Libra, sigh another one to check out!
I am thinking its about time I got another PFM album since I only have the big 3, Storia, Amico, and Niente. Any suggestions from the Den, something more from the 70s or newer? Little curious about the 2013 PFM in Classic...

Personally I find the best album after the "big three" to be Stati Di Immaginazione, it's purely instrumental and it is really superb! But if you prefer 70's albums try Chocolate Kings or Jet Lag, they are very different from each other so it depends which road you'd like to take. |

Thanks Sagi! I began looking for the availability of the Stati Di Immaginazione and it seems to be out of print (unless I am searching wrong). Checked Larson, blackwidow, and other sites mentioned on PA RPI page. Did not see it available, except for 1 used on Amazon for $314!!!! Odd if this is out of print since it was not that long ago released. Guess for now I will have to check that out on the Tube and purchase a different album.
