Contrary to what was mentioned about the Circus Devils not being prog and their 2013 releases not being the albums of the year, the Circus Devils have more prog in their music than any of the newer stuff that gets covered in Prog Magazine. I don't wanna get into a pissing contest, but any classic prog fan can see the difference between how great the 70's prog stuff is compared to today's contemporary prog scene. This is what makes the Circus Devils so interesting. They have the innovation that existed in the 70's with the classic prog, krautrock and experimental bands. Not very many bands have real innovation and creativity today. You certainly can't judge the Devils from "Bird Zone" alone. The dude that posted that definitely had never heard either 2013 album, let alone any of their other albums. Robert Pollard and Todd Tobias are huge prog and krautrock fans and you get that from the music, which ultimately has its own style. Just because something isn't over-polished and Dream Theater-y doesn't mean it can't be prog.

Ok well they aren't a pure Prog band, but they have progressive tendencies throughout most of their albums, but
FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM is a band that I think most 'prog-heads' will surely enjoy.
It's Gothic Rock/metal at its best.
Top albums...

Elyzium-(1990)
Mourning Sun (2005)
The Nephilim (1988)

Enjoy.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

That shouldn't be a problem, even if you're right. Many of us here consider that "lesser" music can have its own taste. It can be felt like listening to a regular friend rather than to the elusive charismatic golden bull. "Lesser" art is also excellent to highlight World Class art.

While I love all these artists (some more than others though), I don't think people who venture as far as the forums of PA are unaware of these acts. It would be like joining a classical music site and start recommending Mozart and Ludvig Van...

I recommend with great arms wide open....

ELOY's--REINCARNATION LIVE ON STAGE.

This is a wonderful double live album that is quite new (2014) and it covers pretty well a 40yr career so amazingly and with a lot of heart. If anyone really enjoyed Pendragon's live double album 'out if order comes chaos' you'll be sure to enjoy this one from ELOY.

The Gathering--Mandylion.

This is an awesome, strong gothic debut of Anneke Van Giersbergen fronting the band as the lead vocalist.
Pretty great stuff and a far cry from their later material, which got more refined and proggier.
