Kite

as John so eloquently said of it,  "You should be able to smell the peanuts".

I'm afraid I must go with the majority here and choose "A Day in the Life". Though I guess if this poll were done in a non-prog music site, "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and perhaps "With a Little help from my Friends" would be winning, or at least giving a tight competition.

oh hell no i don't mind that at all!
I wouldn't disagree with such a statement, but there's something about Fixing A Hole which just won't leave me alone.

Born after 1964 then?

If you lived through it, you wouldn't be stating this. But I might be wrong.

I think he's right. I was born in 1962 and still think it's influence is overstated. For me both Revolver and Rubber Soul were better albums and had demonstrably more influence on subsequent developments in popular music than Sgt Pepper. But let's not split baby hairs, It's a very fine album by consummate artists all said.

true. Sgt. Pepper wouldn't exist without the potential with those two albums (AND The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, the main influence for that album)

^ Yes, the Beach Boy's are too often glibly dismissed when it comes to innovation and laying the foundations for Prog's Bouncy Castle. It always irks me when certain artists are accused of using the very cliches they actually invented (Floyd and Dylan come to mind)

So True.  It was merely a conceptual stepping stone to what everyone considers
the apex of the Rollling Stones discography, Their Satanic Majesties Request.

Same for me, the song is incredibly strong.
And then some say that McCartney is superficial. Disapprove

But "A Day In The Life" is still a great, powerful, adventurous song, and I also love "To The Benefit Of Mr. Kite".

I vote for "She's Leaving Home", though.

Fixing a Hole.

One of their best "Hey look...we're taking drugs for mind expansion!" songs.

Since A Day in the Life is winning. I'll vote for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

Agree 100%

No problems there but I was born in 1958 and had elder siblings who bought all the Beatles releases. Revolver to my seven year old ears was absolutely amazing, Rubber Soul.....hmmm no, nowhere near Revolver or Sgt Pepper.

Sgt Pepper: its release cannot be described easily......it had an absolutely mind-blowing impact on the whole of this Earth (apart from China!)...you had to be there. It changed the face of popular music but that is not to say that I don't prefer Revolver over it.

Yes that is true, you had to be there to appreciate the impact it had. I was but sadly too young.

A Day in the Life of Mr. Kite! I gave my vote to the song with the dancing horse called Henry.

I say nothing is nothing
