Well, they don't need all of Ukraine, just to control the Southern and the Eastern parts of it.. (which seems like the plan anyways). Russia has enough landmass, along with some of the post-Soviet states and a hypercapitalist economy should be able to re-create the modern reincarnation of the Tsarist empire.

^ Yes, Russia has enough landmass and Kremlin could ocuppied Crimea, but it's not "Euroasia". However, a good thing with that is the fact that more of Kremlin's military engagements, along with fake "reincarnation od tsarist empire", and especialy with, as you said, "hypercapitalist economy", it is the path to new Bolsevik Revolution; this world really needs the New Bolshevik Revolution and, also, the New French Revolution.

Not going to happen. I think the world is moving back to the days before the Bolshevik Revolution, with nationalism and fascism coming to the fore again.... Civil War in Ukraine (US Russia proxy war) will be the first of many future conflicts. Some conflicts might also occur again in your country as well.

Why not just cut the middleman, save everyone involved the bloodshed, suffering (or waste of time and resources as far as the powers that be are concerned) and make Ukraine a Soviet...erm, Russian state.
Not like they deserve the thing that everyone wants, their own homeland, or god forbid...a right to live in peace and independence. I know I know, not a squirt of piss about any of that is given in international relations, just figured hey, it'd be a nice thought. Let us all live in peace, can't the smart power hungry folks on top just play chess with each other on a board instead?

The funny thing is that the European Union resembles the Soviet Union much more than Putin's Neo-Tsarist Russia.

Neo-tsarist, whatever.
The terms matter little, the actions are the same and they make me sad. All around. Would be nice if one day, ya know, we could just leave each other be and not play chess with the Earth, but I'll just keep dreaming until that happens

You expect too much from Putin's Russia, methinks. During this time, "Lavrov urges Ukraine and the West to negotiate". What negotiations - perhaps ask them to replace the Kiev putschists because it is very important for Russia? Just in general I am not able to figure out what they could to negotiate really. It's just a mimicry. They are already divided Ukraine. Putin won't whole Ukraine under his control. Because if that is so, Putin would not have acted in this way from the beginning. If he wanted to put the whole of Ukraine under his control, which means to install a puppet pro-Russian regime in Kiev (in order to create "Eurasia"), then immediately after the coup in Kiev, Putin had to make blitzkrieg in Ukraine darted in all directions; troopers from the Black Sea to the southern parts of Ukraine, by land across the border in the entire eastern sector of Belarus and the western and northern part of Ukraine. If Putin really desires to create "Euroasia" as you believe aswell, Putin would not be dragged 'chess moves' that seemed in the days of the coup in Kiev when no one ruled, not command nor the security forces, and the Ukraine army weren't ready for some resistance. I mind you, in order to create "Eurasia", Putin needs whole Ukraine, not some odds and ends . And If you think that's complicated to put under control that 8% of the armed extremists from western Ukraine, a little read through Stalin's notes may be found there as he worked efficiently. p.s. Regarding my country and region, some aren't to be expected in the near future. Edited by Svetonio - April 16 2014 at 12:31 |

You don't know about that. Maybe Putin can support some crazy right wing Serbian nationalists to try to take over parts of the old Yugoslav republic again.

Actually, after elections last month, serbian nationalists will (again) form the new government in a few days, and Putin is interested only how that old / new serbian nationalist regime will protect the interests of Gazprom, a crook corporation who exploit serbian oil, paying mining rent several times lower than in Russia, & not paying 30% of profit what as per the contract belongs to Serbia. On the oher side, the West supported the current serbian nationalist politicians because they have to signed the very important papers regarding Kosovo; with that necessary approval by Serbia, the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 which states that Kosovo is an autonomous province within Serbia, is gonna be changed. So, the alliance of Berlin (some call it E.U.) and Moscow is already installed in Serbia, and serbian nationalists were helped in the installation of that alliance in Serbia because it provides the power to serbian nationalists for rule. The next conflict may be only within the Republic of Serbia when the people become against the current nationalists puppet regime, but for that we will wait a few years for sure. p.s. Even Bob Dylan had some comments on the Balkans conflicts. Edited by Svetonio - April 16 2014 at 13:22 |

Well this is just wonderful...
Purposely going to just not think too far ahead about this..solely because it's far too horrifying and depressing. Rescinded! Now coming out it appears very likely this was a false flag, thank god.

Typical American propaganda. Smearing Russia like it's nothing. The coverage during the Sochi Olympics was almost sickening.

Sadly, that's true. Very similar thing is in Serbia now (btw the current nationalist regime in Serbia is in the best possible relations with the regime in Hungary, also with these fascists parties in Austria), where the "underground" nationalists (i.e. fascists groups supported by current nationalist regime in Belgrade) from time to time are making the lists of Belgrade's Jews, "who are the greatest enemies of Slavic people" - that's actually the main theory of today's nationalism (fascism) in Serbia that the Belgrade's Jews "are conspired against Serbia - Russia alliance", etc.

![]() This really did happen, it seems. Someone, or group, distrubited these leaflets but turns out it's not legit...was a hoax, or possibly a false flag. It was picked up by the news but, (for once) I'm not gunna put blame on them, doesn't seem they created this. Just glad it turned out to be false.
Not that war still isn't coming
