I honestly can't remember what albums/shows that NJ is referenced. Doing the chronological run, you notice a lot of little details in the music or the dialogue. I noticed the NJ references, but only now did I bring it up, since I'm up to 1984 era of Zappa, and NJ references keep coming up. But I haven't returned to any albums or shows, I just keep forging on, so I can't recall where else it's mentioned.
What I can remember off the top of my head: The Berkeley performance 1984 - Frank makes a joke about New Jersey. Just Another Band From L.A. - In Billy The Mountain, Flo and Eddie mention "Atlantic City, NEW JOISEEYYY!!!" Halloween - recorded in Pasaic, New Jersey, I think Frank makes a wise crack about the state. I want to say one of the late 70s albums mentions NJ, but I can't recall. |

Hmm...interesting. Still need to hear opinions...nothing here jumps out to me as essential. (Though nothing necessarily jumps out as crap) |

New Jersey is brought up in The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing.
NJ seems to come up a bunch during Thing-Fish. Edited by darkshade - February 06 2014 at 00:02 |

I just got back into Zappa recently, forgot how incredible this dude is. Think I might pick up that Uncle Meat vinyl reissue. Does anyone know if any of his other stuff will be reissued on wax?

I received my copy of Joe's Camouflage today.
I haven't quite gotten through the whole album yet, but here are some thoughts: It may be the best of the Joe's series. The sound quality is decent, considering it was recorded on cassette originally, although "Honey, Don't You Want A Man Like Me?" is an awful recording. "T'Mershi Duween" sounds very different. "Sleep Dirt" also sounds different played by a full band. "Any Downers" at that point was just one riff played incessantly. To a Zappahead like myself it is a treat.

^ Interesting. Sleep Dirt by a full band does sound intriguing.
As much as I consider myself a full on zappaphile I still get weary at all these Joe's releases. |

I buy them because I can't bear not to. But the bits and pieces nature of them does make me resent that they charge full price, plus their bloated shipping fee for them. |

By the way, last month, the ZFT sent:
"Suddenly for every Roxy reason possible it seemed imperative to make the actual
Roxy By Proxy release truly special by offering this
exceptionally entertaining audio aperitif. For those of you that ordered the
Roxy By Proxy all those eons ago and even up til now, you can
land Joe's Camouflage at a discount. Keep an eye
on your email inboxes. Details will follow. " How the f*** does this make the RBP release "special". And no offer for a discount has come yet. With this group's reliability, I wasn't going to hold my breath, not for a measily few dollars.

I think the most enjoyable, fun, and energetic synclavier pieces are on Meets the Mothers of Prevention. There's something about them that I like, maybe the juxtaposition between the rock tracks.
Oh, and What's New In Baltimore in now my new favorite Zappa tune, the guitar solo is beautiful, and makes me feel sad, yet happy. Maybe I could make a good rock star, I don't know. Edited by darkshade - February 11 2014 at 19:31 |

I've always found Meets The Mothers... slightly underrated. No classic, but still pretty damn good and enjoyable.

New shipping date is Friday, Feb 21.
Only bumped it a week this time. Either they are actually getting closer, or they enjoy f***ing with the faithful fans.
