This is the thread where we post the best music discovery we've made on a given day.
Mine for today, the orchestra-infested jazz-pop indie-rock of Lambchop: |

Cool idea for a thread! Also, I like the track. I would contribute but I haven't discovered anything yet today so maybe next time.

Not necessarily a discovery, as I've heard the Flaming Lips before, but I'm listening to Strobo Trip for the first time, one of the three songs being six hours long

I listened to Gorguts this morning and although I didn't really care all that much for the songs with singing, the instrumental The Battle of Chamdo was quite nice.

Palefeather. Maybe the scandinavian revelation of 2014. For fans of Pink Floyd and Landberk.

And today, I finally listened to Volcano the Bear for the first time. I remember Gazzardian talking about them a couple of years ago, and I made a mental note to check them out. That mental note got lost, and I just regained it when going through the Wayside catalog and ordering one of their CDs. In preparation, I found a youtube playlist containing a full album different from the one I ordered, and listened to it today. They're about as weird as it gets, just what I needed.

Field Rotation - Acoutstic Tales
A great ambient album I discovered today with strong melodies that don't just drift off aimlessly but take you somewhere. Full thing is up on bandcamp https://facture.bandcamp.com/album/acoustic-tales |
