Cookie Manager indicates that this lineup was only used in rehearsals. Late November into December tour had: FZ, Napoleon Murphy Brock, Roy Estrada, Andre Lewis, Terry Bozzio, Norma Bell (from Nov. 1 to Dec. 9). Needless to say, I've got to get me one of those.

That's a weird lineup, I don't think it was ever represented on the YCDTOSA series. Looks like it might have been around the same time as the Bianca Thornton lineup, or Andre Lewis, that obscure 1975 period that also gave us Bongo Fury.

Has anyone mentioned this yet? Apparently, there is yet another FZ release coming our way (the 4th new album in 3 months).
It's called, "Joe's Camouflage" and is the 5th in the Corsaga/aka Joe's series. It's supposedly from summer 1975, and most likely has the following lineup: FZ: guitar and vocals Napoleon Murphy Brock: keyboards, sax, and vocals Robert "Frog" Camarena: guitar and vocals Denny Walley: slide guitar and vocals Novi Novog: viola and vocals Roy Estrada: bass and vocals Terry Bozzio: drums and vocals Thoughts? It's good if you like his orchestral music. It's a little more symphonic than you would normally hear in this kind of piece, but it's cool. It has familiar themes that pop up, like the Burnt Weeny Sandwich theme. The '63 show is closer to his later classical works, with Frank talking a lot in between each performance, and there's a funny Q&A session after the show. An obvious omission is The Lost Episodes, but it belongs at the end because it has synclavier on it, and is mixed with later 70s stuff too, and put together in the 90s, so it's like an epilogue after CPIII. But I gotta say, doing all those early albums in a row is something else. It's like a whole universe of music in and of itself. I'm glad I made it all the way through, and now I'm up to the Hot Rats era. Edited by darkshade - December 08 2013 at 22:17 |

I'd just like to say first, wow, 20 years. Sorely missed. I'd also like to recommend The Real Frank Zappa Book. A sample can be found here - http://www.amazon.com/Real-Frank-Zappa-Book/dp/0671705725#reader_0671705725

There's enough unreleased music on both MOFO and Lumpy Gravy to make a
nice tight 35-37 minute album from each box set, thankfully most of them
run in sequence. Plus, on LM, you get the original Lumpy Gravy, which
has music that's not on the more well-known version. I might just have
to make a playlist for each one (I don't really care about
instrumental/alternate takes of the songs from the respective album.)
for when I listen to these box sets in the future.
I'm loving this Zappadan (Zappa marathon between Dec 4 and Dec 21) |

Not that I know of. I don't think it's available, maybe it'll wind up on an Apostrophe (') Project/Object... |
