BTW it seems that cockers were popular dogs among rock musicians

Still a dud ... broken link to the image ... both on IE and Google Chrome.

You know what, if we can't see it, then we can't see it; it's not a big deal.

Nah, back then, there was a lot of hoopla about being a gay glam musician in the popular music press.  Marc Bolan (T. Rex) and David Bowie were constantly fighting for attention, ratcheting the game upwards.  The music rags like Circus, Creem etc. had entire issues dedicated to it.

Fortunately, prog musicians were pretty much left out of the "Who's gay??" hysteria.  It was really bothersome.

After having posted the pic of Kansas Steve Walsh before, it seems appropriate to post this earlier one from Elton John, 1970

My god. Who's the granny third from left?

The guy with the sunglasses on, or Chris Squire? They kinda both look like a couple of grandmas.

Is it me, or has Steve Howe looked exactly the same for the past 10-15 years?

he has been looking like a zombie, and they don't age

Interesting you say that. I do know for a fact that acid was involved... That house in the background is Tony Stratton Smith (head of Charisma Records)'s house, where the band stayed and rehearsed for the album. They certainly did 'drop' a few times during that period but it wasn't, as Mojo magazine stated, a period "saturated in LSD." Mojo and media people like to refer to the Pawn Hearts phase as a massive acid era for the group (hyperbole which adds to the legend, but is totally overblown). The band told me that there were a few occasions where they did do acid together around this time, but not all the time and not even that often.

The photographer was Keith Morris, who also did all the classic Nick Drake photo shoots.

Oh, and the house was supposed to be seriously haunted.

you can't do acid all the time anyway; there is a kind of built-in cooldown. the brain needs a few days to recover, and during this recovery period any acid taken is wasted; it won't have any effect. to be on the safe side one should take two weeks or even a month between two trips. I know that from my own experiences with the stuff in my youth

Do you know who she is?

Alice Visconti was one of the discoveries of Franco in the 80s. Almost all her sung was written by him during his pop period. Nothing particularily good but may be interesting for Battiato's fans

I'm friends with Bob's sister Patricia Fripp, so I emailed this to her.  She's on holiday in the UK right now with Bob.

I asked her if that was her with Bob, and she wrote:

I confirmed with Robert. He was 11 and I was 12 on December 26 at our grandparents house.

It would be more difficult to find a non-bizarre pic of Daevid Allen.....

I threw five clocks down on my bed
The chimes danced out on golden threads
And turned to footprints on my wall
Sequined Tears began to fall...
