Not a croaky voice but not a normal one either.
Not an artist.

It may be a matter of debate whether a comedian may be called an artist or not, but I tend to bow down a bit to look at Jimmy Clitheroe .

By performing some unorthodox queries, my usual way of finding the right person. "The Clitheroe Kid" was one of the candidates that popped up in the crosshairs somewhat earlier, but at that moment I was not yet sure that it was him.

An engineer? My clues were quite ambiguous, particularly the early ones (he was in an adaptation of Jules Verne's Rocket to the Moon and in Gainsborough Picture's Much Too Shy (along with George Formby)). I would have eventually mentioned that his surname was the same as the town he was born in.
