I came across this band called Sintesi a couple of years back on Jamendo, but never got around to listening to them until now. I think that they would be of interest to fans of Italian Prog. I don't know if they would be considered Italian Symphonic Prog or not though. If anyone is interested in checking them out, their last two albums are downloadable for free on Jamendo at this link. http://www.jamendo.com/it/artist/361477/sintesi I am really enjoying the first album Anno Zero.

Amen to that, John. Both of you do a great job of pointing out great music for me. I've come to trust both of you and your reviews quite a bit. Unreal City is outstanding, a definite contender for album of the year. A new band that will be on the Archives soon is Ingranaggi della Valle, which just might be my favorite Italian album of the last decade. We'll see if that statement holds up... but to even be considered, well, it's really that good.

Pierre, it's like a more symphonic version of Arti e Mestieri with excellent vocals. Fantastic, really. Here are a couple clips. These songs aren't the best from the album:

Well said, my friend. Jazz is a key of RPI, and maybe of all the progressive music i've heard untill now. For me there's a deep blues feeling in the first Alphataurus, and my favorite RPI albums have all black blood. ![]() |

John, I have to share Todd's excitement over this one....even from the first few minutes, I think most of us had this feeling creeping in of `Wow....this sounds pretty special!' ![]() There are several people who don't enjoy the modern releases too much, that feel a lot of the characteristics and feel of the classic 70's Italian works is not there anymore. But this one....I think it's really going to win them over, and it's shocking that a debut album that comes out of nowhere potentially redefines the modern standard right from the start. As Todd said, they'll be added to the site very shortly, and any progressive fan who has an interest in Italian prog will need to add this to their collection! ![]() |

I thought many of you RPI guys might enjoy this!
The entire performance from Italian band Locanda delle Fate at the April 27th 2013 Progresiste concert is up on Youtube, although split into 9 parts: Here's the first one! I hope you enjoy! I think many of you love that debut album from them a little more than I do (even though it's still nice), so I thought you'd be interested in the clips! Just head to Youtube if you want to watch more of them from the same performance! |

Just got this baby a few days ago...
![]() This is the debut album released in 1979 by Arturo Stalteri who is most familiar as Pierrot Lunaire's keyboard player. Although it doesn't have the folk element, this would appeal to any fans of the band, it's closer to their second album Gudrun in the keyboard work. Very good album and definitely progressive, I guess he is not in the archives because of his other releases. Oh and forgot to say special thanks to Pierre for bringing this to my notice! Hey so what's everyone's opinion's on I GIGANTI's Terra In Bocca?
I was thinking about trying to find a copy or a reissue because it sounded interesting. Also, I was meaning to ask if anyone knows about the role of the Italian Mafia in some of the music from the day. Were any of these groups funded by the mob? Were any tied into the mob? Or were any groups careers cut short by their involvement?
I feel plenty of the groups from the 70s in many of their countries faced much more opposition than just a public unwilling to listen to longer songs. |

This is my opinion... http://italianprogmap.blogspot.it/2012/05/very-bold-challenge.html I suggest buying this book (even if you don't know Italian). A remastered copy of the CD is included: http://www.il-margine.it/i_libri/catalogo/terra_in_bocca |

Was thinking about getting Sensation's Fix, Music is the Painting in the Air (74 - 77) compilation. I have not heard anything by them and was curious what the den mates thought about this double album?
