CRP has given quite a bit of coverage to VdGG, actually. A lot of major articles / interviews, and even a namecheck in their ads for subscriptions. There has also been a fair amount of PH solo coverage (I recall a pretty lengthy article / interview in the issue with Hawkwind on the cover). And, of course, PH won the 'Maverick' award at the CRP event last year. So, CRP has certainly done right by VdGG / PH. True that I haven't seen much on Eloy or Atomic Rooster, though.

There was an article about VdGG recently if I'm not mistaken. Unless that was in Classic Rock.

I would like a real issue on Krautrock ... not just an article smaller than my pee on the street!

Back on topic: so the unsigned bands are paying for the production of the CD, and the magazine is pocketing at least the same amount.
In many cases, it is a "trade-out" ... and on the band's next tour or concerts in the area, the magazine can also be sold, or an advertisement for the new album was in the magazine, already paid. Of course, for those familiar with radio in the old FM days, a lot of those trade outs included, sex, drugs, rock'n'roll, dis-eases, LP's (then!) by the handful, dinners for all concubines -- but unffortunately, they did not cover ....................................................

So, of course an unknown band has to pay ... what does the magazine gain from the unknown band, until it is known? ... very little!

Let's draw up a wishlist and send it to 'em

I'd say Cosmic Jokers, PiL, and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop should all be in there

I would add that P.A. is more "inclusive" of the scene as a whole...PA covers the "Global" scene, and hence gives
considerable visiblility to bands like Magma (French), PFM (Italian), Banco (Italian), Riverside (Polish),
Pain of Salvation (Swedish),....etc. Prog Magazine creates the illusion that there is a "thriving" Prog scene with
bands like TOUCHSTONE, THE REASONING, etc., even though these bands rarely play gigs outside of the UK
(and even in the UK they often play 200-300 seat shows).
Of course the same can be said for PA......We create the "illusion" that bands like ANGLAGARD are more popular than they actually are (958 ratings for Hybris ?)...when in fact these bands can rarely afford to play gigs,
even in their own country !

Nice comment from a reader in the latest issue

"I think the majority of those interested in prog music consider ProgArchives as the best  "Progapedia".

Considering one of my old bands paid £1000 to record and manufacture a single, which sold about 3 copies, then £800 for inclusion on a CD which goes to several thousand people of your target audience (i.e.prog fans) then that doesn't sound too bad a deal to me.

They include lots of less-known bands as well as the obvious ones.

I've been picking up the mag on and off since it came out....I wish they would spend more time on the obscure/less well known  bands and do a feature on them once in a while. It seems like they focus on just the big names most of the time.
Of course that's what sells but it gets a bit boring .

I got this issue a few days ago, it's good if you like Rush.  There's also pieces on Karl Bartos, Todd Rundgren, Miles Davis, Kevin Ayers, Marillion, and Roger Hodgson, plus new things.

"Rash".  Also, note the symbol on Geddy's bass.
