I chose the Beatles only because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have gotten into music. Plus if it wasn't for them Rush probably wouldn't have been the same or any other band from the seventies. I'm not saying they were or are the greatest band of all time(that's debatable)but they probably are the most influential and had the greatest impact on popular culture of any rock band in the world ever.

To contribute to the implicit sub-poll, 'Who vocals to you prefer - Geddy Lee or John Lennon'
I think Lennon was a great "general purpose" (in a good sense) singer - his voice was smooth and melodic (but not syrupy), expressive (but not too edgy), perfectly controlled and versatile enough to cover the whole breadth of the very diverse Beatles's repertoire and beyond.
Geddy Lee' singing talents are impressive and have been definitive for the style and fame of his band, but for a listener who isn't into Rush he may sound like high pitched tenor shifting into high pitched wailing and back. Couldn't imagine Geddy singing anywhere outside of the Rush's framework and context.
Same applies to Jon Anderson: all's good as long as he screeches and squeaks in unison with the good men of Yes, but allow him sing on his own and you may feel like throwing a bucket of water on him.

Lennon doesn't have a great voice or huge range but his phrasing is often magnificent, especially so in Imagine. The kind of mathy approach sometimes favoured in prog discussions on musical abilities don't really work when applied to singing. It's nice to have range and all that but there are words to be sung and Lennon knew how to sing them. Just because it sounds simple doesn't necessarily mean it is all that easy to reproduce his conviction in an actual performance. Just listen to Rufus Wainwright's bland covers for Exhibit A, he sounds a lot more trained than Lennon but to me the emotion is completely missing. And besides, yes, Geddy's voice is barely attractive anyway except when he sticks to his middle range, that is, from Permanent Waves onwards rather than the Plant-like screaming of 2112 or Farewell to Kings.

I enjoy vocals. You'd like Rush in concert nowadays, Geddy can't hit those stratospheric highs, anymore.

Well, on this one Geddy does a diligent job articulating the syllables in synch with the rhythm, and in tune with the progression of the musical tones. I suppose that's what you meant anyway by the "lack of flavour"?

I don't hear much inflection on the words, varying the emphasis or stress, all of which adds up to the flavour. Just singing one word quickly but holding another a bit more, for example, these are very subtle but important aspects of rock/pop vocals because mostly they depend heavily on the lyrics. Geddy sings the lines very neatly and nicely and that's it. I think given the lyrics, the song has the potential to be more than just a breezy little upbeat and pleasant number.
