I was pleasantly surprised by Led Zep release - expected nostalgia at best, but it sounds technically great, full of energy. Strange but not bad sound mix - airy sound with lot of low freqs, bass/drums

Not sure whether tomorrow night's show will be the normal 2hrs long (starting at 9pm GMT*), or (depending on whether the 8pm presenter has gone home early for Christmas), possibly 3 hrs long (and starting at 8pm GMT). Anyway planned out for both eventualities with the playlist - 8pm start the whole list gets played, or 9pm start we stop at Dave Brubeck's Blue Rondo Ala Turk  (and I'll save the other tracks for the first show in January 2013). I will confirm actual start time 30minutes before it happens - check your email.

A very happy new year. Those who caught the last show of 2012 know that a 3 hour show ended up being squeezed into 2, so as threatened, some (excellent) left overs from that playlist plus some more (excellent) goodies. Sad news after Dave Brubeck death , we have also lost Spirit's Ed Cassidy and former Mother Ray Collins, recently so we remember their contributions to music. I'm hoping to have former musician now very much a professional analytic chemist, Trev Lever back with me after a decade to chat:

Tomorrow's my birthday, so a noisy celebrations with some good music tomorrow night. Also note, with us being in the examination period then there is uncertainty whether other jocks will turn up or not. SO I've put together a three hour show, with the thought that the 8pm presenter may be away revising (who knows). Therefore, if this is the case,  the playlist below should be played in full and in the order shown. If she does do her 8pm show - I'll kick off at 9pm starting with the Kazumi Watanabe track.....  (Confused? - I am and I'm do the show). Three indie recordings turned up over the last 6 weeks and will be played: The Haunting (closely connected to last week's guest Trev Lever), Greek band Methexis and Polish band Lebowski. The brand new Everything Everything, 'Arc',  turned up today, so there's been time to include at least one track (are they a modern day stripped down Gentle Giant???). Plus heaps of jazz related. And don't forget to write in during the show - it was pretty quiet last week.

probably right - suggests a group exercise which was recorded and issued with Guerin's death? But has a Gabriel-like voice on vocals....
