With my grand return to PA I bring good tidings and joy, just in time for the Christmas season:

http://nichts.bandcamp.com/

A whole online label of some of the best ambient dub/techno I have heard in a long time, each album has a deeper underlying theme sometimes based on some obscure part of a religion or philosophy. It's really interesting music indeed. Personally, I'm a big fan of the work by Docetism which tends to be an earthy and beautiful ambient sub-bass dubstep that's really an atmospheric treat. All of the work is worth your time however, and like many albums I promote, it's pay-what-you-want on bandcamp.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

Early Christmas present:

Ambient project Lost Trail's split with noisy electronic musician Theo's Mystic Robot Orchestra. Both have about 40 pieces and each one is it's own beast. Yet somehow, these tracks were destined to be together. It's a real trip, it really is: http://theosmysticrobotorchestra.bandcamp.com/album/lost-trail-tmro-split

Also some new The Ozark Witch:

Nifty, I may check into this further.  Had a chance to listen to 10 minutes or so of each.

Alright so it's Christmas Eve and all that good stuff, I haven't been posting here lately so I'm going to try to catch up to some extent. Here is no lies one of my favorite albums I heard this year, for free on bandcamp:

Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy

It's very lo-fi (he honestly records this stuff in his car, thus the band name) and it's very emotional music. It twists your emotions basically the whole album through it's acoustic ballady type songs to it's almost power pop lo-fi anthems. Sometimes there is both of those types of songs in the same song. Regardless, it's one of those albums that I find myself coming back to all of the time simply because it's had a profound affect on me, whether that be the catchiness of the lyrics or the emotionality of the concept. It's really worth checking out. Did I mention it's free?

Little past a week but here we are now. Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson (a true love of mine) posted a link to this free album on their bandcamp saying it was their favorite band. It's easy to see why, this is basically YPoFH minus some of the post-rock influences and adding some emo influence. And making an album that has a similar feel to YPoFH's s/t album. This band is called SPORT and they are quite an interesting little group, their album Colors has 13 songs all with locations and dates as song titles so a concept album could be a possibility. Either way, this has the same emotional appeal as YPoFH with perhaps a hint of that catchy indie influence. Go on and check it it out:

Who wants some more of Theo's Mystic Robot Orchestra?

He just released a triple album of material he's been working on all year, and from what I've heard it's pretty sonically interesting:

Theo's Mystic Robot Orchestra - Guide Us Through the Madness of the World With Guitars and Amps in Hand

Go on and try it out, the man behind the project loves having listeners, regardless of whether they like it or not.

Goodness Scott, you've posted more than I have lately. LOL

For today's blog post which is the first in a loooong time, I'm going to do something a little different. I'm promoting my favorite artists I've seen on the archives which happen to be some of my greatest friends.

First off, Pseudo/Sentai which is the project of PA member Smurph. Pseudo/Sentai is some of the greatest avant-rock I have ever heard and has it's own bubbly goodness that I have heard from no other artist. Plus, they have an album coming out very soon which sound incredibly promising based on the tracks that have been released so far. Give em a listen!

Second, check out the noise project by our own Vompatti, Succubus Station. The first album on the page is a split with yours truly, but the other records are where most of the awesomeness is at. One of my fondest memories is zoning out listening to Succubus Station while a documentary about a pecan factory was on television. Pure bliss.

Third, check out Vompatti's other project with other PA members whose names escape me at the moment (Alan and Cam) Hanashukketsu which is noisy, but not without some gentle sax and guitar playing to keep it fairly mellow. It's lovely to say the least.

That's all I've got for now, but all of these records are pay-what-you-want so indulge yourselves for a while!

I've got some really cool free stuff for you guys. Big smile

I have personally released an EP and an LP on this label, but that's not really where the gold is. My labelmates are downright incredible. This is You Are Already Dead Records which is rampant with noise, ambient, indie, etc. music. Pretty much everything is incredible.

My personal favorites are the records by Lost Trail, Theo's Mystic Robot Orchestra, Mormon Toasterhead and Many Moods of Dad.

I love You Are Already Dead Records, lots of great stuff on there, and Drew is a pretty cool dude. Coincidentally  (WARNING shameless self promo WARNING), my new album is the newest release on the label.
