David, if you don't quit criticizing our wonderful president I'm going to have to assume you're a racist.

I'm in a personally imposed moratorium in checking out new releases but other than that... Tongue

Jim, you know I'm secretly head of a local chapter of the KKK. I'd prefer you keep hush-hush about it because I don't want it getting out and ruining my reputation ya know.

I'm surprised I didn't notice this earlier.

I eagerly await to see the response from the White House on this one as well. Although I'm expecting something along the lines of "everyone is entitled to free speech blah blah blah" which we've all heard a hundred times.

Speaking of new releases, I did a full review of my top 10 back in 2009 on Facebook, and I'm probably going to do that once again this year. Except I've heard probably a good 50 or so new albums this year, so it'll probably be a top 20.

And yes Jim, I'll gladly take any criticisms from you on what albums I either don't include or didn't listen to yet this year. Tongue

Yeah, that's pretty freaking boring.  I'd like to see his response to the secessionists be simply an extension of the third digit of his right hand.  And to the anti-secessionists, his response should be "Hellz yeah!"

Hey, hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

What's your argument(s) against states leaving the union?

(And what would the states do with a guy's severed finger? Confused)

Thanks, Rob.  Thanksgiving was pretty good, but we had four sick cats over the weekend.  Some kind of kitty flu.  Otherwise, I enjoyed it.  Hope you had a good one too.

Actually, I don't have a problem against states leaving the union if it is done by referendum in the seceding state (and not just by a recalcitrant governor/legislature).  Obviously, there would be many issues to work out as well, debt, trade rights, mobility of citizens.  But, I think in this case it is just silly people p*ssed off because their candidate didn't win.  If every time those from the losing party started a secessionist movement, this country would have fallen apart before it even began.  I don't think these petitioners are deserving of a serious response.

Hope your cats get well.  Ouch

Mine was swell, headache and traffic aside.

I tend to agree with you about the "gut" reaction ("I'm moving to Canada!" etc.), although I think many would want to leave the union because of the debt (and continued deficit).

Thanks.  2 of them are back to almost 100% now, just a few sneezes here and there.  The other 2 are on the mend and should be fine in the next day or so.

Ah, the great thing about our Thanksgiving was: we didn't go anywhere.

I think some might, because they have a fundamental difference of opinion as to how government should act and even if I don't agree with it, I can respect the difference of opinion..  However, if that were the case, why wait until after the election to get a petition going.  It wasn't like Romney was going to fundamentally alter the way government does business, and so had that been the motivation of the petition signers, it wouldn't have mattered who won the Presidency.

If it regarded debt and continued deficit, I am wondering why secession petitions weren't started in the George W. Bush administration. An ill-advised tax cut and two wars certainly added incrementally to the debt. Oh wait, you sign a petition like that back then and Cheney would've had you waterboarded under the Patriot Act. Secession, after all, is not very patriotic. Wink

to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

Ron Paul is pro-secession and so am I. In all honesty, I feel like the country has become to big and too diverse to properly function as a single unit, much like how the European Union is crumbling. People are fond of saying that there is "strength in diversity" but that's not really true. You need some common ground on which to base you government. It's gotten to the point where no matter who wins elections, 150 million citizens are furious about it and have to submit to leadership they despise. That doesn't seem sustainable to me.
