Despite the fact that the article mistakes the fine English beer Boddingtons for Irish (thereby losing all credibility), we can all look forward to lower prices and more availability! I'll drink to that!
I like it that they think we have a drink problem in the UK - we drink, we get pissed, we fall over - no problem there.

Well, I quite like it. It's certainly better than any of the American macros. I had a Killkenny with lunch and it was lovely.

I also find this interesting. Here's a graph of the Dow Jones Industrial Average over the last three moths. That last peak occurred on November 6th. Look what has happened since.

Not that I'm seeking to validate Obama, but speculators reacting irrationally to a president or event to no degree means that that person should be doing what they are or that the event is not a good thing. The last thing I want is for these a****les to dictate what measures we can and cannot take, politically.
The market isn't reacting to Obama getting elected per se, but to the fear that there will be no compromise on the so-called fiscal cliff.  Republicans shouldn't be smug.  They carry at least half of the blame for this.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

I'm glad you're having fun, Geoff.

Personally, I'm having fun watching the Democrats scramble to blame the party  that controls only one half of one branch of government for everything bad that happens under their disastrous policies. LOL

Enjoy your fun as you find that does not to come to true as we move Forward llama.  Wink

Their attempt to politicize the attack at Benghazi is going to fall flat on it's face.  If it hasn't already.

Let me clarify, the political attack by McCain and company is disgusting.  The families who lost loved ones have already asked them to cut it out.  Do they have to again???

Let's not forget the Libyans who died in the defense of the consulate either.

Seems like the Senate has 1 statesman and, at least, 90 idiots and/or maniacs hellbent on more bloodshed. But hey, it's not their blood, right?

Every economic indicator that has come out since Obama's reelection has been worse than expected and the stock market is in free fall.

As for the fiscal cliff, I am undecided about what I want to happen. Part of me just wants us to fly right over it, since we will at least get spending cuts (about the only way I see that happening.)

Another part of me wants the Republicans to completely give in to everything Obama want to do so that they cannot be blamed when it turns out to be a disaster.

I suspect either option will have about the same impact on the economy.

That's true. Even there was only one Republican in all of government they would still find a way to blame him "It's the governor of Alaska's fault!... somehow"

You should read the emails I get from the North Carolina Association of Educators (not that I am a member- our local unit president forwards them to us, so I cannot unsubscribe).

There is never one negative thing said about a Democrat to which I can point, yet heaps of blame to go around for Republicans.

We've had a Democratic governor for twenty years.  The mayor of Charlotte, a Republican, got elected governor this month, and the NCAE is already up in arms about how he'll ruin the public education system in his support for private and charter schools unless we let our voices be heard!!!!!

The email says:

"The battle stakes are being laid an agenda that does not sere [sic] the teachers of North Carolina well is being prepared as we work. "

Keeping us informed?  More like telling us what to think.

It probably seems strange to folks outside of the US, I'm not sure they can understand how deep and ingrained the institutional biases are in this country.  Liberalism is taught in the schools, it is accepted truth to the media, and even our local government around here have special "committees" designed to promote liberal causes.  There are no such counter voices for conservatism save the AM talk radio and a few loud voices like Fox.  But these voices are dwarfed by how deep it runs for liberal politics and agendas.  Conservatism is routinely debased and ridiculed with a wink of the eye to objectivity by the smug personalities on television and in print.  To their credit, the collectivist Left fought smarter and won many battles in our era.....I don't slam them for their victories, but I lament their incredible damage to our country.

Liberalism deeply ingrained in our society?  The collectivist left winning many battles in our era?  LOL  No offense, but are you and a lot of conservatives living in an alternate reality US, where this is actually a liberal-leaning country?  If so, how does one get to that alternate reality?  I want to go there.

Reagan started the plundering, but 30 years on, the New Deal and the Great Society have been stripped away and the wealth and power in this country have been given over to the monied aristocracy.  As for the media and institutional bias, yes, a lot of them do seem to have a centrist bias (not a liberal one), and as the Democrats are the centrist party, the media is biased toward that party.  The collectivist left has no power and no representation in our government, with a few possible exceptions, like Bernie Sanders.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Well Doc, you're in Texas so I suppose that feels different than Minneapolis.  No offense taken, and a few years ago I would have agreed with  you.

Actually Doc, I know exactly how you feel.....I feel it whenever they tell me I'm living in a "center right" country.  I hear that phrase all the time and don't feel it.  There are no absolutes.  We are all dealing with our own filters and expectations apparently.
