I'm fairly new to post rock, but a band I've really gotten into in the past few months is Bark Psychosis.  I bought both of their albums and have been enjoying the crap out of them!  Just really awesome, atmospheric music.  Some of the best music I've listened to at night.  Not sure what it is, but it just sets the mood.

^^ Pardon my dyslexia of Post/Math and Post Metal.  My question was also very open ended. Embarrassed

Post/Math seems to be a genre I think I may like and from my listen of Perhaps, that one may be on the more aggressive side of this genre (based on reading the correct genre description and my little knowledge).  I still liked it however.

^ Thanks for the suggestion, I may give Bark P. a try.

I'm new to post-rock too, but this--this just blew my mind.  Their album Exegesis is going to be the Album of 2012 for me, so far nothing else has come close.
Please meet Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster....

For those who are new to post-rock (as opposed to post metal or math rock), here are three good fairly recent threads with some examples to check out (I don't know why they are not hyperlinking, sorry about that):

^ Thanks Z, good links and music that is tickling my fancy, looks like I will be blowing some $$$ in this genre also.  That Bark P.-Hex link you had in one of the threads (one with the insane dominos) was awesome.  I also seem to be liking what I have heard from the Samuel Jackson 5, love the name...LOL

I've been trying to get into Post/Math recently, so far I've heard these albums.

Russian Circles - Enter
Sigur Ros - ( )
Bark Psychosis - Codename: Dustsucker
Perhaps - Volume One

All four albums you posted are damn good. By the way, check out Time Colums and Years of Rice and Salt. I think you will like them.

One of my favorite albums of any genre.  Awesome.

I'm just awed that these guys didn't pull through by the Math Rock team. Apparently, they're under Crossover here. Ermm Sounds more like accessible Math Rock to me.

Yeah, it's really a shame TTNG is under Crossover! They're the band that got me more into math-rock, along with Maps and Atlases.

In other news, I discovered the post-metal band Intronaut over the weekend (as they're playing at Roadburn 2013), and it surprised me that they're in the Archives. They're described as progressive/stoner metal/post-metal/death metal. It works out amazingly!
I consider drone metal to be progressive...

This Town Needs Guns s/t is MR for sure but Animals becomes more crossover with some mathy tendencies. It's one of the Alternative bands that sounds mathy but crossover because of the punky vocals and such. Minus the Bear is a case of this Alt-Math playing but they're a much better band.

I made a Russian Circles radio station on Spotify and I've been loving it.  65daysofstatic, Maybeshewill, and a ton of others.

New Sigur Rós is excellent. Departure from the ambient soundscapes on their previous effort, more guitar driven melodies, more energetic.

Bought it but haven't listened yet.  Hopeful, though!
