David, I elaborated a bit on FB...

This is the kind of cool playground equipment we had in the 70s before the safety killjoys took over.....god we had fun in this thing. They tore ours down in the 80s, along with the swings, rolling barrell, overhead bars....pretty much eve
ry thing that was fun for a kid. You should see the crap they replaced it with. Today's kids got shafted....can't even go for a bike ride without a goddamn helmet.

The robot head was also a popular place for the older kids to hang out and smoke some weed. Some of the long hairs would climb up the outside and sit on the top of the head with their feet dangling over. We little kids thought they were insane.

Anyway, it's a great memory for me....we had this robot right down the street from my house....we used to go there every day on our HuffysLOL

Then one day all the cool stuff was gone, for insurance reasons

That is so sad. I was lucky enough to have something similar growing up, and what many people fail to realise, is that children learn about their own boundaries through these things in a way that we can never teach them. When you really think about it, then everything is dangerous - if looked at with the right pair of eyes. You can drown in a freakin rain puddle - you can choke on your shoe laces - hell it's even possible to break your neck on those new lifeless and unimaginative playgrounds...

I use to tell parents who come off a tad too protective of their children, that part of them should rejoice when their kid came home from school with a scraped knee. Why? Cause some people never get to experience that - maybe they're stuck in a wheel chair for life, and I'll bet their parents would be jumping with joy if they came home with a bruise. All is relative.

Exactly.....I could go on about the childhood we experienced in the 60s-70s as compared to today and why I wouldn't call it progress, on many fronts, but that would be way off topic. 

Glad you enjoyed the Robot!!!   Think I'll write a prog suite called Giganta.

(I actually REALLY hope you've been able to avoid it)

Antonius Rex - Pig In The Witch (1992)

I successfully added it to the Rex page last night, provided all the details, etc, and I've got a review I'm putting up now. Words cannot express how awful it is.

I've got the original vinyl, and I recently purchased a USB turntable, so I was able to transfer the record to a USB stick as an MP3 file. If you'd like to hear it, I can send email you the two small files?

In some ways, Jim, you NEED to hear it, then perhaps you can explain more what went wrong. I wonder, with your knowledge of the band, you might know a bit more about the history behind it than I do?

Hey guys, I'm absolutely loving this album--kind of a surprise, as their more recent live stuff hasn't really thrilled me all that much. But this is spectacular stuff! 

Oh, and the studio stuff is great, too! Reinterpretation of Il Fiume from Landscape (very nice with beautiful orchestra) and a couple new tracks. 

Wow, I just realized this isn't on PA yet! I'll have to remedy that, unless someone beats me to the punch.

I've not heard it Michael, and from that description I think I'll be happy to pass!  LOL  On your question the other night, I believe BW did acknowledge 2 Tiring albums but did not seem confident they would be released.  I doubt we will ever see them, even if they do exist. 

I've not heard that one either Todd, but I love the cover art!

Thanks for the video, Pierre! The song is pretty good, as is the other new studio song. The remake of Il Fiume is better than those two, and the live Milano Calibro 9 is even better than that! I'm very pleased with this album.

Now the new Syndone, well, that's another story . . .

Court's 'Twenty Flying Kings' - liking this one on first few listens. Will try to post a review over the weekend.

Pierre, I LOVE that third Delirium album, one of my favourites too!! When I first bought it, I had never heard a singer (in an Italian band or otherwise) with such a deep and distinctive voice!

Big fan of the recent comeback album from a few years ago too - and that wonderful live DVD that came out after it!

I have the other three albums by them, and I think the most recent is their poorest. So if you don't like this one, but you like keyboard-driven prog, check out their other three.

Hey Todd, thanks for your kind words!

I'd really love to start reviewing more Italian albums, because I strangely don't consider Rex to be a typical RPI band!

But I've been making my way through the Abiogenesi albums, and they are classed on here as `Crossover Prog'!

Anyway, I'm thinking of slowly piecing some reviews together for some of my prized Italian titles soon.

That recent one from Gran Turismo Veloce was a stunner for me! Terrific production, great playing, wonderful singer!

You know, that brings up an interesting question I'd like to ask! :

What do you guys consider to be among the better, most essential RECENT RPI releases, say over the last year or two?

Chances are I'll have some of them, but I'm curious as to whether it's the comeback albums from the established acts that are the more impressive titles, or newer/modern bands that are breathing new life into the genre? Probably a healthy combination of both!

Please offer some suggestions!
