Congratulations to Colorado for becoming the first legal pot smokers in the country!   No cards? No medical use only?  Wow, you're way ahead of California.    Oh, and way to go O-hi-o .

Very interesting turn of events. Over the next 20 years we'll see the whole facade of marijuana prohibition come down in most if not all states. Congrats Colorado.

maybe at a state level but I know towns have made it decriminalized even legal.
I believe in Denver it was already all good.
Still great news.

Also great that Maryland voters (well 52%) have voted to uphold gay marriageClap

I also wanna congratulate Angus King. Won the Senate race in Maine as an Independent. Seems to have always been an independent with no real attachment to either party, and is speaking about issues you don't really hear about.
We need more of that in the future.

Tammy Baldwin has been announced winner of the Senate race in Wisconsin.
1st openly gay Senator in US history.

The reports I heard had Romney votes changing to Obama, so I expect the errors will cancel each other out, but still there should be no errors at all. I was fortunate enough to vote with a paper ballot in my district.

That's good, because I do not trust these e-machines. There is ZERO transparency. At least in paper ballots, you can find evidence of paper ballots.

Funny, when I got into my voting booth I put on these sunglasses I found and it said Goldman Sachs where Mirack Obamney's name should have been.  Believe they were both of the OBEY party.

Thumbs Up Did you vote for Gary?

Yes, I did

Without going through the 61 posts I missed since I went out: What'd I miss? LOL

One wonders how many times the republican party will have to be taught the same lesson before anything sinks in.  Is it too early to predict the neocons, that destroyed the party, somehow continue to maintian control going into 2016 and put Santorum or Christy, or some other such moron, up?

Time always wins.

^ I assume there are smarter people than that in the GOP; they need to lose any influence from guys like Karl Rove

Sadly, I really don't think there are any.
I would love to see the country purged of Neo Cons...it may take an exorcism.

But it's that purging attitude that can be so toxic--  if people are informed and educated and they still want to vote for Neocons, so be it.

Agreed but...that process is a very very long one, and sadly impossible. Until people want to learn.
Edit: oh and I rarely use such words with any seriousness but neo cons are borderline evil. The mindset of their leaders, very disturbing stuff.

If you didn't realize that a long time ago, the Republican is basically the NeoConservative party.

Today, both parties are a coalition of various voting groups. Republicans have economic libertarians, social conservatives, and so on.

The issue with the GOP today is that its base is dying out. It's going to have to do some soul-searching in the near future, because it's pretty well doomed to be a minority party if it keeps on this hyperconservative Tea Party kick. The primaries and idiots like Akin are really what killed Mitt's chances. Mitt ran a decent campaign, but the stuff he had to say to get the party's nomination came back to bite him in the general election. Stupid comments by other conservatives looked bad for the man who just fought so hard to be in their company. I feel for the man, because Mitt Romney being Mitt Romney probably would have won the general election. Wouldn't have gotten close to snagging the GOP nom, though.

I have to wonder if people know what words mean. Is the Republican party's problem hyperconservatives or neo-conservatives? Because those are pretty much opposites.

I'm hyperconservative, and I don't like how many neo-cons are in the party these days.

IN 100% agreement here, that was my conclusion.
