Thanks, Finn! I've actually got a review of Rex's `Zora' ready to go for tomorrow, and I'm just putting the finishing touches to `Anno Demoni' too, but planning on getting through all the rest of the Rex album reviews over the next few days as well! Then I'll head back at the end for that long-delayed second Jacula album review!

Watch out, one of those Rex albums kinda sucks....can't remember which one, might have been Anno.

Ralefun was pretty good, and Switched on Dark is a really cool, updated Rex.

Well, going by your 1 star review of `Anno Demoni' I just noticed a few minutes ago, it must be that one!

I've dug it out and will start listening to it again tonight. I don't remember a second of it! I've only written an intro where I mention that, from what I recall, it was the first Rex/Bartocetti album I ever bought, so I'm wondering if, while being lousy, my selective nostalgia towards it will lift it a little! We'll see!

I've already written a very positive review of `Ralefun' months ago, which I really love, but it's a lot closer to traditional 70's Italian prog than the gloomy and moody work Rex is associated with!

Praeturnal was pretty interesting too.

The Magic Ritual dvd was pretty disturbing.  LOL  I think I like listening to this stuff better than watching it.

Oh yeah, I've got that too!! Do I dare review it?! I've only watched it once, but that was more than enough. Very unpleasant...I've got both the DVD/CD version and the vinyl LP, which seems to have an `exclusive' track "Fairy Vision" - 14.28, which is different to the CD that comes the with DVD package.

If I remember the track `Magic Ritual' has some very cool crunchy guitar riffs on it!

You know, Charles Tiring had a solo album of Church organ....I'd love to hear that stuff.  I wrote to Black Widow once about it, but doesn't look like it will get a CD release.

I noticed reading up briefly on it now that's he's meant to have two solo albums, but there's barely any trace of them? Urban legend, I wonder?? Did Black Widow confirm for you that they exist? I would love to hear them.

Ooh, that is such a great album!! I bought the vinyl reissue a few years back, and it's a stunner!

I find that the first two tracks are so impossibly good that the rest of the album is a little bit of a letdown! It's all good, just that the opening two tracks set a very high standard!

I agree with you. From the excellent to the very good. That's the harsh law of RPI Wink

Listened to two soft-prog lesser-known gems today!  The first is a soft symphonic album that was actually trumpeted to my by none other than Enzo Capuano who was Panseri's friend

...and, I like this one even better today.  One side is Battisti-like quality Ital-pop, but the other side is a 17 minute conceptual suite. Not mindblowing, but very nice "less complex" RPI

Jim, I love them three. I still couldn't catch the Gian Pierretti's album. Broken Heart

The little soundtracks records company often reissue 100, 300 ou 500 copies of rare CD. With a good pubicity, these ones are sold in the night. I don't understand why BTF and others don't do that ?

Jim, independent of your post, I listened to Pieretti's album last night. Really a wonderful album! I think we had some great RPI vibes going across the country. I agree, this gets better with every listen.

Listened to this one early this morning whilst walking down to the bus stop. 5 o clock in the morning with a gazillion stars up on the sky screen as well as an oddly big white moon shining like a regular torch. That's one thing I love about living in the countryside - no light pollution, you get to see everything up there in the big black ocean. Anyway, I was listening to this and I really connected with it on a personal level.
Just wanted to thank you Pierre for letting us Italian music fiends know about this little gemHug

You're welcome David. Probably the best album of Library Music, I've ever heard in my life. Heart

Todd, that is amazing!  I had just pulled that Pieretti out for some reason at the same time, and it just hit me all over again.  We seem to pull the same album without each other's knowledge quite often....it's funny how that worksSmile

Love your new sig Jim! And it's so on the money. Nothing remotely interesting will be allowed in the future! We will all probably be wrapped in bubble paper and armour
