I have a fantasy series I'm writing. The first book is almost done, but here I am working on the second book and a prequel that takes place hundreds of years before. ![]() Only right now I'm not writing- I'm here on this website. |

Surprisingly, I have the same personality trait as well. I get bored after awhile at whatever it is I'm doing at the time. I end up shifting back and forth between accounting and law, professionally. All the novels I've wanted to write are permanently in the development stage or half-written because I grow tired of them and want to move on to the next thing. Of course, I have found that to be to my detriment in some cases as well. |

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

While I am a supporter of continuing space exploration and exploitation, the spin-offs from it are over-stated and often incorrect (like velcro and teflon) - calculators are not a spin off of the space program (unless Blaise Pascal was a secret rocket scientist) but a parallel development that NASA used and may have popularised [electronic pocket calculators], they were not involved in their development nor did the space program provide any impetus for their development. In the 1:10 budget to benefit ratio NASA are counting the wealth created by GPS and comminications satelites as part of their "win" and that is undoubtably a valid correlation up to a point it does not subtract the wealth that alternative non-space solutions would have created or any of the possitive benefits non-space solutions would have provided. If the $180bn per year benefit was the result of a direct funding to those non-space solutions rather then a non-specific, non-preselected, serendipitous winfall from a non-comercial programme then the ratio would have been higher. NASA is not a cost-effective way of funding comercial research and development and that cannot be used as justification for space exploration. I beleive we should fund space exploration for the reasons of space exploration alone - if there are spin-off's then that is a bonus - just as we should fund scientific research programs like CERN and the LHC for reasons of scientific research and not for serendipitous winfall spin-offs such as the Internet and medical scanners (CERN also claim spinoff benefit from the wealth created from GPS satelites). Last debate tonight. Anyone watching?
Also, there is apparently a third party debate between the libertarian, constitution and green party candidates tomorrow night. That should be fun to watch. |

I might watch that one. They might actually say things in that debate.

Protip: You are about to watch two men in nice suits smile, tell half-truths, make generalizations, and condemn each other, even though they are pretty much going to have the same foreign policy. |

My favorite quote: I want our economy to be stronger, so we can project military power around the world.
Which means more debt, more unemployment, more welfare. The other clown is the same.

It's interesting that Romney tried to position himself in this debate as the candidate of peace, compared to Obama.
He does great when he manages to steer the conversation towards domestic policy, but seems ucomfortable when talking about other countries. |

Can anyone ever know about current foreign affairs than an incumbent? A president has all the information nobody else does after all.
Good job by Romney on avoiding a foreign policy war with Obama and steering it towards the economy. |

I don't give a f**k what some people say but I actually believe FoxNews is much more impartial than Msnbc (comparing the supposed two "extremes"). Yes, FN has its Hannity and O'Reilly, but most everybody else is pretty good. After the debate they actually don't root for nobody. There's not ONE person in Msnbc that can even act like they don't hate Romney and root to death till Obama.
I know in the end it's sad that this is what politics have come down to but I have been noticing this lately and had to comment. |

That's one if the funniest things I've seen on here. Fox news is probably the LEAST impartial network out there - they twist everything from the left into a conspiracy and everything from the right into a righteous crusade. Watch Stewart - he doesn't even have to write jokes, he can just show clips from Fox news and it's funny. Edit: dur Edited by dtguitarfan - October 23 2012 at 10:46 |
