I will be as big a Tigers fan as Scott if it is Tigers/Cards in the WS.

Leyland said that he's not going to be the closer tonight, and if he's not able  to pitch a fast ball in the next week, he should not pitch again in this series.

They used Coke in that role right ?
Weird that Valvarde has given up on his split finger fastball, wasn't that pitch the one that made him so successful last year ?
I'm looking forward to the Giants/Cards game tonight, i missed the first one. I honestly don't know who to cheer for in that one. Both have won the World Series recently so it would be nice to see the Tigers do it. Yes it hurts to say that.

Yesterday they had Coke pitch the 8th and 9th innings.  They are probably hoping that Verlander does that job on Tuesday.  Not sure what their backup plan will be.

Well, going into work today I heard the story about how after A Rod was benched game 1 he was caught flirting with girls in the stands with zero attention being paid to the game they were losing...

Sheesh. Well...if there's EVER a time A Rod can redeem himself it's tonight. He has pretty good numbers against Verlander this year and the Yanks have hit him.
Except A Rod has been benched.

For the coach who is hated for living by the numbers he seems to have thrown logic out the window!
He wasn't hitting anyway, nor was the time and their best one is now out so it'd be a miracle anyway. If by some crazy chance the Yanks pull it out I wonder if they'd start A Rod next or bench him again!

Edit: anywho here we go! Yankee fans everywhere have their wish of A Rod and Swisher being benched and seeing it in person suddenly makes them scaredLOL

I thought for sure that Girardi would put in Swisher and/or A-Roid to pinch hit for Nunez and Gardner in the 9th inning.  Nunez hit the homer so I guess he made the smart move there.  Ibanez up with 2 on and 2 outs in the 9th was an "oh sh*t here we go again" moment, but thankfully he went A-Roid and struck out.

The announcers on TV were surprised A-Rod wasn't up stretching in case he was called upon late in the game. They kept showing him on the bench munching on peanuts or something. I really enjoyed the game and man if the Yankees had have pulled off the win i would be worried. Verlander wasn't as dominant as he can be but allowing 1 single run over 8 and 2/3 innings is pretty damn good.

Three players on the bench worth a total of 60 million yearly, replaced by three players worth about 4 million yearly.

Yankees need to clean some house, and get rid of a ton of expensive dead weight.

Not that I care,I think it's hilarious.

Well Swisher will be gone i'm sure as he's free-agent but how do you get rid of A-Rod and the rest of that contract ? The Jays did amazingly well getting rid of Vernon Wells to the Angels a few years ago and his massive contract, but it's not an easy thing to do although with the Yankees money maybe they'll trade him and continue to pay his salary anyway.LOL

Up in Canada here we get the American TV feed but every few innings they go to Toronto to the Jays commentators for discussion. I thought it was interesting when asked if they thought there would be retaliation against Holliday for sliding hard into Scutaro. Both Ashby and the other dude(both former players) had no doubt they will bean Holliday tonight. Just something to keep an eye on.

Whats really funny is this is exactly what we wanted.
Or should I say "wanted" because now that it's happened, everyone suddenly is going berserk. The last 2 days the NY media has been crazy, and the fan base is blowing a collective lid.

We're ok with Swisher since he's just a f**kin bum, and Granderson....well it hurts but he's been sh*t recently, I can at least get it kinda. This A Rod thing is insane though. The GM (before the coach) came out to say he's only going to face lefties. A guy with 647 home runs, almost 2000 RBI and an all time great is now a lefty hitterLOL and that benches him for the rest of the Tigers. If we make a miracle 4 game run it'll be without him.

One has to wonder if he's done as a Yankee. It'd seem too much $ is involved but rumor is there's been talks with Florida, though the GM wasn't involved. tl;dr the Yanks are in chaos.

Anyway I agree though, I've been fed up with this sh*t for years, sans 2009, and it is time to clean house. They need to exorcise the demons, and I hope shift philosophy in the future.

The A roid thing is kinda bullsh*t since cmon....I'm sure I can find a laundry list of players Scott likes that shot up.
It's A Rod there are so many avenues to take!

How about the fact that he was more concerned with hooking up with a girl then the game?
The fact despite all this he is smiling and acting like a fool? His career may be ending and he just doesn't seem to care? Or he's a damn good actor.
Or just go with he's become a thin shell of his former self that is ridiculed by the whole fan base.

I really am pissed, I knew the Yankees of my childhood was coming to an end but oi this is painfulCry
I usually accept the inevitable Yankee post season failure but with how intense they played during the last month, how gritty they were...this is unbelievable.
It blows the pitching has been superb. Kept us in every single game easily and they wont get their fair credit.

Yes, in Canada, we're stuck with the Jays, just glad that each year their season end up in September!

First time I have ever gone to a game that got rained out without any rain.  Angry  Absolutely f**king ridiculous.  It finally started to sprinkle around 10:00 and I don't know that it ever rained hard enough that they would have delayed the game.  Maybe by 11:00.  They did it to "preserve the integrity of the 9 inning game" but this was complete and utter bullsh*t.  If they want to preserve the integrity of the game then I want to be reimbursed for my $20 parking and $20 in food that I purchased at price gauge induced prices.  Not to mention getting reimbursed for any time off of work that I might have to take on Friday if there is a game 5.

...although I am one of the lucky ones who can get the time off of work on short notice so that I can attend the games.  There are thousands who are not and will be screwed out of their ticket prices too.

I had a minor brush with celebrity last night.  The TBS booth is right above where my seats are.  When I ran up to get my hot dogs before the game I passed by Cal Ripken, David Wells, and Dennis Eckersley as they were walking to the booth.  David Wells was standing up there looking down at our section during the "rain" delay and acknowledged some fans yelling "Boomer".  Cal was standing up top autographing baseballs for fans who were standing up there.

Very cool Scott !
It was weird last night having both games rain delayed but especially when they cancelled your game when not a drop of rain had come yet. I'd be pissed off too with all the time and trouble that goes into getting to a game, not to mention the money as you said already. Well there's football on tonight too so between the two baseball games and the NFL i should get my fix tonight.

Oh yeah and the guys in the booth were very surprised that Holliday didn't get beaned last night. I think Holliday was legit about his apology and concern over Scutaro so good for the Giants. Now watch they'll nail him tonight.LOL
