Everyone knows the (factually) best drummer is Mike Giles. Come on people, it's not even close!

I Talk to the Wind contains some of the most unparalleled beautiful and melodic drumming ever. Sounds smooth and easy, but caching that vibe and playing with that sort of feel is unbelievably hard.

That line always struck me as rather sad.  Unhappy

But maybe I was comparing it to "When I'm needing a friend, I can talk to the wind," which has (as it's name suggests) a lonely quality, but still has a modicum of hope.

I just listened to ITCotCK again. I must have heard that album a hundred times, but I still find it utterly breathtaking fro start to finish.

I prefered Clint Eastwood's version... 'The breeze hasn't time to stop, and hear what I say'

Yep, it's a good album (especially the drumming from the unerring Mr Giles of course) but do you really think the 'roomier' areas of Moonchild are breathtaking? (or would wheezy/bronchial be more accurate?Wink)

So we're all in the love with the album IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING now!!! Ok.....I can live with that. Epitaph is my favourite track, but the drums aren't very predominate on it, so I think MOONCHILD should take the ranks. Oh god.....the forum still lives!!

I personally don't see what's so special about ItCotCK.  I mean, I did go through a phase when I listened to a lot of the psychedelic stuff when I was a young teenager.  But now that that is out of my system, I go back to ItCotCK and I get a little bored - I mean, it's pleasant stuff, but nothing groundbreaking.  I personally don't see how it even qualifies as Progressive - if that's Progressive, then any jam band should be on here, because to me it sounds like that's all they are doing: jamming out.  Which is fine, nothing wrong with that, but I don't see how it qualifies as such an important Progressive work.

Think your only logical when you talk about Dream Theater. Dont know if I agree with ya here. The album is a true staple in the eclectic prog genre, let alone prog itself! I just have the feeling that some classics never die even if you yourself feel that it's gone stale.

Christgau, is that you old buddy? It's me, Lester! I've come back for you, Robert!

This is Kasey Kasem with some ol' bullsh*t from the internet. Here's the smash hit 'Giles Just Wanna Have Fun' recorded by Cyndi Lauper from her groundbreaking album 'He's so Fripp-usual', I hope you'll enjoy.

Oh sure, I realize the album's importance as something that LED to Progressive Rock.  Just like there are Jazz albums you can point to that LED to Rock and Roll.  But I don't see how that album, by itself, would qualify as Progressive Rock.  By itself, it's a Psychedelic band jamming out.

^ yes it is. You know I can understand people taking jazz and just thinking of it as unorganized noise. I get that. The jazz element that Crimson has is quite good and if doesn't sound annoying to me.

You know, I have never minded the last bit of Moonhild particularly. I thought it was a nice cooldown period ffeore the climax. However, on this particular listen, I realized that it is actually genius. I knew it would happen sooner or later.

Nope nope nope - I still hate Moonchild just like I hate Red's "Moonchild" just like I hate it when four-year old children whine and complain. RING RING RING RING RING RING RING.
