10cc is pure prog bliss. I agree with them being in Crossover.

Roxy. 10cc are quite weird. Roxy are more accessible, and I like their experiments better.

Never liked Roxy very much. Don't see much musical substance and they
took themselves far too seriously. They seemed to mistake fashion
style for musical originality. Eno's great abilities stuck out
like a saw thumb, so he had to go quite quickly. And the later albums
took the abysmal soft disco style and transformed it into so much ooze
'n' schmaltz, it's unbearable.
Now 10cc was another matter. I
always admire artists who can just ignore outward fashion and produce
really great music and top it all with lyrics that are original, thought
provoking and funny without wearing thin. As someone else mentioned, Sparks also fall into this category.
So no contest: 10cc is my choice by far.

A Roxy poll where I can actually vote for Roxy. Cool. Enjoying their complete recordings box set immensely.

Roxy was all attitude, and interesting though it was for the time, it does not even approach the invention and imagination of 10cc. Just wish they had been less pop-orientated in going about their business.

When you consider 10CC and their music history and the people they have worked with, Roxy Music comes off as just another glam pop band. Sadly, it was too eccentric in its humor for most people to be able to listen to it, and the English humor does not make it too far across the oceans ... except for a song or two. Roxy, is more pop song oriented and designed, in order to showcase Bryan Ferry and his musicians. In the long run 10CC will probably get better remembered, because of the film work of 2 of its members, who are still involved in the field today.

^ History is pop culture. Roxy will be better remembered. And I don't know anyone who gives much crap about 10cc's (former) members being busy with films.

I think "better remembered" is judged by how well the music sells today. They recently remastered the entire Roxy catalog and even released a collected works boxed set. The 10cc catalog is in dire need of an upgrade....my mid-90s are passable on sound but flimsy on liner notes, artwork and background info.

This is a tricky one for me. My favorite album between both bands is Sheet Music by 10cc, art rock at its finest! but other than that their debut and "How Dare You" are really not as good (never heard the rest).
On the other hand Roxy Music to me always seemed more stable and released more than only one great album. They have my vote.

Ye 10cc for sure. Do like early Roxy tho.

I've heard a compilation '10cc's Greatest Hits' - none of the songs struck a chord in me AT ALL. I'll go with Roxy.
