`Verità Nascoste' is a very addictive favourite of mine, nice melodic poppy prog, as is `Storia O Leggenda', which has a really disturbing super erotic front cover!
Le Orme fans - what's your thoughts on the most recent `La Via Della Seta' album with the different vocalist? I think, on it's own, it's a very decent and reliable tasteful prog album, but not sure yet if it's got the proper Le Orme magic touch to it. The vocals are VERY different to Aldo's! |

BTW, Le Orme's COLLAGE is great too. I love tthe psychedelic atmosphere of this album.

I only have 1 so far, you guys are making me want to go get some more Le Orme, So far I not found anything I have not liked, but it has been stuff from the top 25 of the RPI page.
I copied the list that Jim provided (top 25 starter list for RPI) on my first post here, and thought I would work on that. I think Blocco Mentale-Voci is next up on the list. So many choices, too little time and not enough funds...
![]() Edit: Sorry, made error, POA by Blocco, not Voci. Newbie error.... ![]() Edited by AEProgman - October 10 2012 at 12:33 |

Le Orme's CONTRAPPUNTI is a terrific stuff and so eclectic ! Sometimes it even sounds like Brian Eno

I have all but 3 (the first, the terrible one and Fiume) Le Orme albums, and I really like all of them
for different reasons. The new one with Jimmy on vocals is also a good one. But I would like it better if they changed the band name. That's not Le Orme to me anymore. Jimmys original band Metamorfosi is another RPI giant. There new live album, which is mostly Jimmys voice backed by a church organ (!) spins quiet often in my car. |

For sure, the second Metamorfosi 's album Inferno is a gem full of synths creating paradisacal landscapes. A peak when we know that we're talking here about hell

Terrific indeed. I really love the title track and Frutto Acerbo. La Via della Seta is a good record for sure, Jimmy has a very distinctive voice but it's not a real Orme's record. |

One thing that really amazes me about Collage is that came out in 1971, and these guys sounded like they were prog experts. I think a lot of people point to that album as the real start of RPI, although some credit goes to I Giganti as well. (Please feel free to jump in, Andrea.)
Contrappunti is also a phenomenal album, although for me a step below the previous three. I love La Via della Seta! I think it's a fabulous comeback album. Yes, I miss Aldo's voice, but Jimmy has a wonderful voice too. They probably should have called the band by a different name--I don't think they would have sold any less. But it's a great album, much in the same vein as Delirium and Latte e Miele's comeback albums.

Well, I think Collage is the first RPI record I ever reviewed for the archives (back in the 2005). It's the first 24 carat RPI record along with Concerto Grosso (New Trolls) and Terra in Bocca as well. Probably, Collage is better (more innovative and modern sounding) than the others because of the massive use of keyboards and the trio formula. Edited by Andrea Cortese - October 10 2012 at 15:56 |

^ True, true. Collage is truly a wonder.
I really have a soft spot for I Giganti, too. What a monster work that is! Concerto Grosso is okay in my book, but not great. I know it was really heralded back in its day, but for me it doesn't hold up as well as the other two.

That's a nice bit of pop, with light tinges of prog. Fun stuff!

QUELLE VECCHIA LOCANDA : THE IMPOSSIBLE CHOICE
![]() ![]() The second QVL was one of my first RPI albums and a real thunderbolt. I bought the first a year later and today I cannot say which one I prefer. The same thing happened to me with Banco, Dalton, Latte e miele, Pierrot Lunaire and Procession. Such a contagious music ! |

I haven't found it yet, too. Really an impressive record, btw.
1979: so few gems from that year. |

...a question for you Pierre: do you like Pooh? ... I mean, the italian band ehehe
Almost every album from the seventies has at least a pair of good numbers. La Leggenda di Mautoa (1978) Padre del Fuoco, Padre del Tuono, Padre del Nulla (1976) |
