![]() Brilliant review Jim! Sounds like another one to add to my list. As I see it/read it, the album genuinely feels like it was made for a guy like me

![]() I proposed to a friend to listen to this classic today.. He hated it. I had never been convinced by this disc, but this rejection gave me the urge to focus on it all this afternoom. I do not regret it. Finally I understood. It's really an important work, crazy and brilliant. |

My thoughts exactly, L'isola Di Niente surprised me as it was like a more agressive band with some Crimson tendancies, but liked them both equally. Since I like fusion of sorts, I plan to try Area next and from Jim's excellent review of Zaum, do I dare jump that far ahead....

^ Just be sure to check the samples on the bandpage before you jump in. It's good, but not classic like Area. If you're going to try Area, I would recommend either Arbeit Macht Frei or Crac to begin with. Enjoy!

Here's an album I didn't realize existed until recently. I just added it to the database. Il Rovescio della Medaglia is a band that went through some major stylistic changes over the course of a few years. Their first two albums are good hard rock style prog. Their third, Contaminazione, is their masterpiece and is one of the best of the symphonic RPI albums. This live show was recorded about 2-3 years after the departure of vocalist and flautist Pino Ballarini. The album is an instrumental space jam, very keyboard based, and apparently largely improvised. It was only released on LP years later, but now it's all on YouTube. Enjoy!

Nice Todd. Reminds me the IL SISTEMA's album. Today I've listenned to the false 70's RPI album by BALLLETTIROSADIMACCHIA. It was strange but fun.

Amazing album - probably my all time favourite prog album ![]() Just stumbled across this: http://vimeo.com/49984841 New Osanna album? Rosso Rock I had no idea - released in Sept this year, unless it's a single only? Apologies if folks already knew of it. (still theatrical guys!) I decided on Crac. Excellent! Such a way to use the vocal as an instrument and when he does that strange yodelling sound, it just makes you smile. Great muscians too. Jazz Rock/Fusion would seem to be the best catagory if one were to place this album outside of the RPI genre, but that would not do it justice since it covers a lot of territory (avant, psychedelic, & prog). Thanks for the suggestion! Not sure who I will try next...

I didn't know that band a week ago. There's always something to discover in the past or in the present of Italy.
Maybe you don't know yet ROCKY'S FILJ, the Todd avatar. As for Area, jazz is the master here, but it's not the only one. A gem. ![]() ![]() |

Yeah that Blue Phantom album is really groovy! Sounds like it was recorded in San Francisco in 1970

The Rosso Rock album by Osanna is nice but I like Palepoli much more than Milano Calibro 9.
By the way is ther a good sounding CD of Palepoli, mine sound really dull and distorted? The "new" songs are a little too sweet for me, but at least there is new stuff from this band. Looking forward to the new Alphataurus album, which should arrive tomorrow. Is this the original cover of the Blue Phantom album? I seem to remember a different one. One of these really amazing albums from the libary music genre, which is overlooked all the time. ROCKY'S FILJ is a killer album, and without keyboards(!) so it's somwhat unique in RPI
