Evening - didn't Jimmy Hastings play flute on a Caravan album or two?
Enjoying the show, sadly going to have to head off and cook something in a few minutes. Trying to structure food production in between the new VDGG tracks Big smile

Good point about Hastings but Caravan didn't play jazz as such so I relate to Machine

Alas missed the second one - goats cheese and red onion tarts -. Heard the first... I have internetted the new album, apparently it's largely improv stuff taken from warmups. Not really sure that was a great idea for them. Maybe I'll warm to it after I've heard the whole thing but my first impression is as skeptical as yours.

I'm always amused that a band like TRAM is created from metal rockers wanting play jazz in particular style, and then others (quickly) join the merry throng, i.e. here Trioscapes......

Dear all

Seems such a long time but we are back. Lots of good music appeared and grabbed (thanks Unicorn Records, Abstract Logic). Great lunchtime chat with UK-based Scott McGill several months ago, with some discussion about fusion and academia - and maybe (just maybe) something special for show. V Sad news about Jon Lord so hence the last tune on Thursday night. John Mclaughlin (our No. 1 in Jazzwise this month) some interesting Alex Machacek). Love the new Brad Mehldau album - good excuse for more Nick Drake. And of course Zappa's back catalogue, remastered/reissued ....But check the list out yourselves:

Show 2 and hopefully I'll be in total control of the the box of tricks....Nothing of particular import here but some newies (e.g. new David Sylvian retrospective, and thanks to Theo Travis the new Travis/Fripp album), and others retrieved hidden deeply in the archives and then there is the obscure (but very interesting!!!)..... and something to finish the show in acknowledgment of Mr Townshend's new autobiog.....
