Your mother sounds exactly the same only more boring.... |
Wow, nothing speaks "intelligent" and "mature" like being ready to insult a person because they attacked your favorite band. IT'S UNDERSTANDABLE!! WHAT A PERSONAL OFFENSE!
Really, in this case at least, the most cliched of all internet cliches actually needs to be said: get a life.

Lord, you make a harmless "yo mamma" joke around here and get jumped on - and really, I didn't even say anything! Sounds the same but more boring - same as what? I didn't even say anything there, thus I feel no need to apologize. Now, entering a DT thread just to say they are boring and incite needless arguments - THAT ought to be apologized for. But rather than arguing with a punk I made a silly, meaningless joke. So sue me.

Yeah, I'm sure they're going to ban me for an ineffective "yo mamma" joke that doesn't even say anything about the mamma. I'm sore afraid. Quaking in my booties.

You have to know and learn when how and where to use momma jokes. With a lot of unknown people, not all of them in the same geographic location and ergo within the same culture, bad idea. With your friends, good idea, if you know them well.

A 'yo momma' joke would be like..
Yo momma is so boring she thinks the latest Dream Theater CD is exciting.
(Ed. Note.. I don't think it is boring, just making a point.)

Exactly - I purposely made a "yo mamma" joke that doesn't actually say...anything. And then three people demanded I apologize...for saying nothing. Wow, that's what you find inexcusable around here....

I'm sorry, you are quite right. I'll keep my opinion to myself. You obviously are to immature to handle a different opinion. I used to think you were an Ok person. I am sadly mistaken.

When three (or four) different people of different nationalities and ages advise you to appologise don't you think that just perhaps maybe you've made a mistake and just perhaps maybe it would be better to appologise than try and give excuses?

I don't care if you think DT, or any of their albums, are boring. But to enter into a discussion of how multiple people love something and abruptly state that it is boring is kind of an argument starter, and it's not like we don't have enough of those around either.
My wife doesn't care much for DT or any of their albums. But she also doesn't walk up to me and my buddies when we're talking about our appreciation of them and say "hey, just thought you'd wanna know that I think all their songs sound the same and are boring. Just thought I'd interrupt your conversation to offer that helpful opinion."

I have been criticizing DT for a long time, but have never really invested time in listening to them, so last night I went on youtube and listened to Octavarium.
Opinion confirmed: they are boring.

What EXACTLY did I say that was insulting? I said his mother sounds the same...but offered up nothing that she sounded the same as. So I said NOTHING. It was intended to be funny and ended up falling flat. So I will apologize:
I'm sorry I said nothing about your mother, Snow Dog. Next time I'll be sure to come up with something to say.

Have you not looked at Ian's LastFM signature or read any of his previous posts? He is a DT fan, just like many of us who have posted here, we just don't think everything they've done is good or great.

Please do not be facetious and flippant with me, it is far from polite.
