Yes Andrea, I know this album. Stai con me and Ricette are good songs. Nel Ghetto, with its rock disco sound, is more difficult to swallow.

I have been exploring the Italian Prog section of PA and a little bit of this thread. I have never listened to any of this genre before and am looking for my first listen. I see that PFM, Per Un Amico, is top rated and from my favorite download site, it is available pretty cheap. My main interest in prog have been symphonic, psychedelic, and jazz/fusion. Would this PFM album be a good place to start and other suggestions?

Such a hard question Jim, as the genre is so deep with so many favorite titles for everyone. PFM is a huge favorite of many people, though not me, I like more underground stuff. But you could start with any of those top titles on the RPI page and you will do well. They're all great!
Area is jazz/avant and very weird. PFM and Orme are prettier symphonic, Banco is more aggressive symphonic. Balletto di Bronzo is dark and weird. Bacio della Medusa is a newer band mixing hard rock with symph. I really suck at advice because I like too much stuff, the question just stops me like a deer into headlights. Ya just dive in and take some chances. You'll miss sometimes, but you'll hit stuff you like even more! Endless great music around here! Enjoy. ![]() ![]() |

Excellent list Jim, for anybody interested in the genre, BUT it's strangely lacking my most favorite RPI album Maxophone

Thanks guys...
Sagi, there's lots of bands missing....which is the problem I have with making lists....there's always too much they miss. Nuova Idea, Rustichelli Bordini, Alphataurus.....and then there's the next level.......I have to do another list of the really underground stuff someday..... ![]() |

Perfect List, Jim. This is so strange to read this two years later after my first listen of the second album of Alan Sorrenti and his longest and most difficult song . I could give up at this time, say to myself that this music was too weird and pass my way. But this weirdness finally seduced me and a voice in my head whispered me in Italian to continue. Thanks to you and the den for paving me this road.Duck.

If you're into Symphonic then I'd advise Museo Rosenbach. It's very Moog-heavy and rocks my flipping socks off. Their album is highly rated so I'm guessing other people thought the same.

I couldn't agree more with Canterzeuhl, the Museo Rosenbach album is a total stunner. Wonderful dark Mellotron and heavy dramatic vocals. Easily in my top 10 Italian prog albums. I listen to it all the time, and it sill impresses me as much now as it did years ago.

Wow, heard the first two tracks of this today, and it's very impressive! Total keyboard overload, and love the strangely heavy and rough vocals too! Think I'll buy a copy in my next order with Syn-phonic Records! Thanks for the suggestion, Hellogoodbye! |

This one doesn't hold up as well over time for me. I prefer Hopo from the same period.

Ah, but it does. I found one on Amazon--I bought it for like $30, and he sent me their second one as a bonus gift! That was a score. But it's out there, you just have to be patient.
