It's sad when music is categorized as a science, were everything is carefully calculated and there must be only one answer, and that's the one, basically speaking.

If Mike were the greatest drummer around, he wouldn't been playing with Dream Theater. FACT.

If I were the greatest drummer in the world, I would have been in line for those DT auditions.

If I were the greatest drummer in the world, I would be playing with various bands. Jazz, electronics, rock, minimalism, cumbia, fusion, folk, salsa, afrobeat, EVERYTHING, because I would be the best and I could play everything. Hell yeah.
Also, if I were the greatest drummer, I would know piano and other instruments, and make a solo album with me playing many instruments, not necessarily playing the drums.

Think about it, if you joined Dream Theater you would get the chance to play with some of the greatest musicians in the world AND have enough money to fund all your other musical projects for the rest of your life.

If Dream Theater is a band that nowadays has world's greatest musicians, the world has come to an end.

I rather play Zappa covers than today's DT's music. More challenging, funny as hell, and well, it's Zappa's music..

If John Petchouli can't play fast then he isn't the (factually) greatest guitarer- that's official. Geek

If Mike Manglani is "THE (FACTUALLY) Greatest" Drumist in the world because he has broken the world record for having St Vitus Dance while holding a drummering batton then it logically follows that "THE (FACTUALLY) Greatest" Guitarer in the world would be the one that has broken the world record of holding a guitarering pick while suffering from a similar debilitating affliction.

It's as I said. Mangini helps us not miss Portnoy too much. Hey? who with me when I say that DT's latest album is their best album since 6 DEGREES?? I really feel it is and I even felt that we've yet to see the best of what MANGINI can do! The next DT album will be great. Mark my words. It's not going to suck.

Herman Li is a clown, a clown of the circus of shredders, not a guitarist. Just like M. A. Batio. Petrucci is a great musician, with a huge theoric and technical background, he's jazz trained and he could play almost every genre on the earth. Being fast at playing is just the top of the iceberg. Listen to the Lines In The Sand solo and you'll know what I mean.

Six degrees is my least favourite DT album by a very long way. I'm pleased that Maglini has replaced Portnoy because I am not  a great fan of his intrusive drumming, I really hope that Maglini can show some restraint like all truly great drummers do.

I, personally, consider A Drammatic Turn of Events one of their three best albums...

😃 yeah!! I think Portnoy. With his O.c.d and all, was too controlling and kind off screwed up the band's sound. They were really starting to deviate away from the sound that Images and Words as well as AWAKE have. I think what makes A DRAMATIC TURN OF EVENTS so good is that it takes after the AWAKE album. I would label A DRAMATIC TURN as AWAKES good looking cousin. ☺. Also what is your favourite track? Mine is BREAKING ALL ILLUSIONS. I love that I can hear JOHN MYUNG on bass again and he came up with another lyrical gem too!!
