Been enjoying my old records today and haven't heard much prog actually. It's been punk rock and psychedelic folk all day
Heard The Chameleons' first album twice in a row this morning and this is easily my favourite song of the day: |

^^ Enjoying listening to this right now, David. I hadn't thought of the Chameleons in a long time, but I remember hearing them in the 80s. There's something about the neopsychedelic drift of British post-punk bands that really hits the spot . The later Damned albums give me that feeling too sometimes.

Well if you don't own any albums by them, you should definitely check out the first couple of releases. They're much in the same vein as this, but that's what I like about them. That neopsychedelic drift as you quite aptly call it. I totally agree with you btw. Damned sort of stumbled over that sound later on, but then again they started earlier. This one is from 1983 and by that time The Damned had already been going for a good couple of years. I think The Chameleons sound like The Cure did when they recorded Disintegration in 1989 - only much more raw.

Not really a proggy day, fancied some cheesy old NWOBHM and played the song 'Dont Break the Circle' by Demon about 10 times.

La Rossa.
It connects with me. I think Still Life is my favorite album of all time, just for its weirdness, but not as much musically as conceptually, lyrically and emotionally. Though I've heard only Still Life, Aerosol and The Least We Can Do by VdGG. I hope their other albums are as emotionally powerful as Still Life.

Still Life is one of the VdGG albums I haven't fully gotten to know yet, but Godbluff is one of my favorites, and it's the album that came out just before Still Life, and they're sort of similar by my recollection. I need to pull out the VdGG stuff again, it's been a while since I listened to them. I find myself listening to Hammill solo more often. Guess I'm not nuts about David Jackson. Small gripe though -- a fantastic band.

Today's contenders:
Suite Judy Blue Eyes - CSN For What It's Worth - Buffalo Springfield Mr. Disappointment - Neil Young (from the album nobody paid attention to - Are You Passionate? Not that I think anybody should've paid much attention to it).
