As far as I know a prog site not a religious discussion site. The thread title and forum that it sits in is pretty clearly designed for a musical discussion and in a positive vein. I'm disappointed that Admin have not intervened tbh. Do I actually need to register an official complaint??!

According to the new Radiant Records newsletter, the Finland gig will be/ has been made a Inner Circle release! W00t! Smile Unfortunately I have pretty much no way of getting it, for many reasons, but for those who acquire it I'm the guy right in the front wearing a black cap Tongue Me and my friend were probably the most active members of the crowd.

OK enough. Let's show a bit of respect for the spirit of the thread. By the same token, let's not be too precious either.

Righty - Ho, however, did I not make clear my admiration for N.M as a musician and composer of truly great progressive music.....thats surely in the spirit of the N.M. (Prog Musician / Prog website)....Appreciation thread....
I was merely expressing my asstonishment when reading that long quoted thread - I was not aware of the reason that N.M. suddenly found a friend in Jesus.......
And for that I was insulted, and called all kinds of unkind (and untrue) names.... - if he'd called me a tall streak of piss Mancunian t**ser with a strange fetish for Gerbils in Pantihose...he may have been closer to the mark.....
I merely applied Occams razor, and also may have indicated that some American Pastors have a tendency to make a helluva lot of money out of gullible and vunerable people.....
If I met Neal Morse, I'd shake his hand and engage him in a conversation that probably involved Keyboard instruments and what bands from the seventies influenced him - I most certainly would not engage him in a theological discussion. He is entitled to his faith, just as I am entitled to my staunch secular humanist stance......Lets hope the next Transatlantic effort moves at a Tangent (see clever prog pun) in terms of lyrical content and let Neal give us a song version of the "Fifty Shades....trilogy" - three tracks (one for each novel) each 80 minutes....An epic to end all epics.....

Fantastic! IMHO (and I agree with you completely and love his talents)his music writing and lyric production is at the top with any one right now. I bought Snow (SB) and that was when I actually first heard Neal. Now I have alot of his cd's and even one of the Dixie Dregs & Flying Colors. I was telling my spouse that it would be amazing to walk into a church and see them playing as the worship band, yet be totally proggin!! Regards, Joe

Barney-

Three 80 minute Epics!!  i'm in.

the thing about morse and his ilk is that they do have some sort of conversion experience and are quite sincere, but the are incapable of meta-cognition.  they don't think about what they believe and it's consequences.  and, as evidenced by this thread, when you call them on it, they absolutely cannot hear it.  just the way it is.

btw, i think the new album is a bit samey.  not sure how folks think it's different.  i will say portnoy is in fine form and the hooks are as good as ever.  thoughts is kind of lazy and the epic is a bit long.

Looking forward to hearing Momentum, though I haven't made any effort to get it just yet.  I will have more spending money next month, so that one will be near the top of the list (if not at the top).

I do find it hard to believe that it is really all that much different from his other albums, but I guess I won't know until I hear it.  Part of me loves the patented Neal Morse prog formula and worries that changing it can't be good, while part of me would like to hear him change it up a bit and take some chances.

^ Its not that different to his other albums which as you say is not necessarily a bad thing. I'm only on my second listen and there is a lot to take in (a good thing in itself)

^ I would say a couple tracks have some new stuff mixed with classic Neal stuff, like Thoughts Part 5 and the epic World Without End.

Only-listened-to-Momentum-a-few-times ranking time.

Sola Scriptura
?
Testimony 2
One
Momentum
Testimony
Lifeline

It's still a good album, it just hasn't gotten me as excited as when Testimony 2 came out, that one blew me away on first listen, and still does. Momentum is still growing on me, especially the epic World Without End, which I'm still wrapping my head around. I could see the album move up the ranks at least one notch for me.

the new one is Momentum.  The title track is catchy and has a nice synth solo as well as a killer guitar solo by paul gilbert.  good stuff.

Testimony 1 is pretty good.

I'm loving Momentum so far, if I was to rank the albums now having listened to Momentum a few times my list would be:
?
Momentum
One
Testimony
Sola Scriptura

I've unfortunately not been able to acquire Testimony 2.

Don't you hate it when other people buy albums and stick them in your collection!
