What's up, Fellas? Been a long while since I posted here. I actually forgot all about Progarchives and haven't been on in months, it seems.

The boys kick off the NA tour tonight and we're going to the Chicago shows. A lot of Montreal alums are coming in, so it'll be like a mini convention. Steve Perry and I will be attending the Friday meet-and-greet as well, so that's going to be very exciting. I've only met Rothery after night #1 in Montreal '09, so it'll be cool to be able to meet the rest. Sounds like they're going to tweak the set lists to be sensitive for the fact that they hardly play here, so we may be in for a real blistering show.

Anyone else making any shows?

E

Eric!Hug Welcome back my friend (to the show....................).

Have a great time in Chicago, and meeting them will be fantastic.

Mrs Lazland, Lazland Junior, & I are going to the Cardiff leg of the UK tour, by which time the new album should be out.

I miss this particular group so much. I need to come on more often.

I'm just so glad to see them without some sort of theme. I've had a blast at the past two conventions, but to see a true live show without any hooks or gimmicks is very special. I honestly didn't think I'd ever experience this.

From what I understand, they'll be playing a new song or two ("Power" for sure, according to an interview with h). I honestly have a great feeling about this new album. I think it's going to be absolutely killer!

E

Let us know what you think of the new material (and, of course, the show itself).

I agree with you. I have a very strong positive feeling about this album, especially after the massive strength of the side projects that the boys have been involved in.

Looks like they've really babied this one and not rushed it at all. Even going offsite to Real World Studios to work.

I'll definitely let you know. Really wish I was in DC tonight, though.

How's everything been on the board in my absence?

I'm really curious as to what the setlists will be like.

I'll be attending both shows in LA (with a meet and greet on the first night) and am counting the days.

*SPOILER ALERT*
Here's the Washington D.C. setlist from yesterday, according to setlist.fm and various other sources:

  1. (New song from upcoming CD more)
  2. Encore:
  3. Encore 2:

Pretty nice setlist, one which I wouldn't mind listening to Clap

^^^^Resisting temptation. Not looking! Thanks for the spoiler alert!

Mark Kelly said that h had some vocal problems. I hope everything is OK. I know his voice has logged a lot of miles, but this is only the first night of the tour. Your thoughts?

OK, screw it. I looked!!! Lucy said the set lists always changes, so (according to her) it won't be spoiling much.

So glad Man Of A Thousand Faces is in there. It absolutely blew me away in Montreal last year. Would like to see "The Other Half", though.

Yeah I heard that too. I just think it was just a temporary problem that unfortunately happened on the first night.

Hopefully his voice recuperated, seeing as how they had a break yesterday and that the band is ready to give it another go tonight in NYC.

I'm really intrigued about how they'll handle the first two-nighter in NYC in terms of the setlists.

Hoping to see "This Strange Engine" myself!

H might be fighting something on Mark's Facebook he said his voice is almost 100%.

There are a lot of Montreal alums in NYC tonight. A lot are coming to Chicago, too. You really feel like you're a part of a family when you go to one of these conventions. It's indescribable.

That's great. I really wish I could go to one of the Marillion conventions but they're all so far away from LA Unhappy

At least it'll be a partial convention...2 nights instead of one. Cool

^ I'd get them in this order:

1. This Strange Engine
2. Somewhere Else
3. Marillion.com

They're all really solid albums actually so you won't go wrong with any of them. Tongue

Interesting setlist - nice to see a Fish-era song on there (though I always think Warm Wet Circles/That Time of the Night is the Fish bit H does best at myself).

I have a friend at the Philly show tonight and it sounds like h is having a hell of a time with his keyboard tonight. Hope they get it all ironed out by the Chicago shows.

Latest e-bulletin from over the pond:

20 June 2012 Greetings From North of the Border

Greetings from north of the border! A great response so far to the North American shows. Thanks to all who came to Washington, NYC (the first night for me will remain an unforgettable high. Thank you.), Philadelphia and Boston, Quebec City and Montreal. The affection and excitement has been palpable night after night.
Right.. I'll now finish the lead vocal for "The Sky Above The Rain", and then I'll go and lie down..
Au revoir my darlin's,
H

Just like to say a big thank you to everyone at the Boston gig for making my birthday so special...All the cakes, balloons cards and gifts were very much appreciated..The crowd singing Happy birthday to me I will always remember...It just doesn't get any better than that....brilliant!!
Ian x

£110 is a bit steep for the UK Weekend isn't it?  Much as I'd love to go methinks more than a bit of gentle persuasion will be required to get this proposed venture approved by the missus (fortunately she likes Marillion too so I have a fighting chanceWink).

Your missus is, indeed, wiseLOL

It is a bit steep, but worth it, I suppose, just for the experience.

I'm still thinking about it, though.
